Symbian sucks.... its always been same things ever since...
versions are just numbers, what matters most is the OS satisfies the user. And il never b satisfied again by symbians slow response and very low ram(nokias),and same unamusing UI...
Android is the greatest...im so into my android fon htc desire running froyo.i mean...
Symbian can never get to d level of androids poop..
Simply the best....

Reality check, guys. April? By the time this update actually comes around to your aging handsets:
1) HTC and other manufacturers would have already announced a few more newer models that comes with 2.4 out of the box. Yes, with specs 10x more powerful than your crummy Desires.
2) The Nexuses, namely Nexus One, Nexus S and I daresay, a whole brand new Nexus (Nexus Black ala LG?) would have already long gotten 2.4 and laughing at your last year's Xmas Gingerbread. (Pun intended)
3) Google would have already held an event or press release about the new upcoming 2.4.1/2.4.2/2.5/3.0 (Yes, its fragmentation at its best) or the next Android iteration with tons of new bells and whistles.
4) Apple sells another million iPhones. No relation whatsoever but just sayin'.

@blahblah .. well i respect the symbian being the most purchased and used and successful os so far but ... due top lack of nokia's efforts in pushing it further ... its dead nOW!
same crapy ui
low hardware specs and lack of creativity is burying symbian to gravE!
thats what android offers and thats what the world is moving with
nokia itself will focus on window mobile os and meego

What's it with all the jealous Symbian users out here?
I used to be a symbian user, but Android is lightyears ahead of symbian.
I mean, come on! There's a reason why Nokia is in a crisis, and changing OS.

boybawang, 28 Feb 2011@blahblah, The Symbian updates you are talking about is ... morehaha, funny of you, do you know the difference of update and replace, what you are saying is pertaining to replacing the OS lol. Think carefully first man, before posting. Changing the versions of OS is already updating or upgrading. What I am pointing out here is the number of changes and new features it brings when updating w/c android lacks.

The Symbian updates you are talking about is an illusion. It NEVER happened that a Symbian Phone with s60 was updated to s60v2 or A s60v2 phone updated to s60v3 etc etc. What was updated was the firmware and NOT the OS version. Just like Nokia 5800 it has gone numerous updates but the OS was never upgraded.

to all who replied,
See, how you react on my single comment, you are all funny to think that symbian is sinking, common, think how fast android update itself, it should have a planned transition of changes, is that a real update, an update should have a big difference from the old version, i don't see a lot. Unlike the symbian, you can see the difference, a lot more differences form Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 to Symbian^3 OS.
Your crappy little android thing will surely sink in less than 3 years, unlike symbian who stays for so many years. I'm sure all of you will bored to that OS sooner or later. you are just hypnotized by its eye-candy UI, try to grow up a little bit, so childish of you being fooled by a childish developer. LOL

hd, 28 Feb 2011hey man, i got the desire HD ROM too, but finding it really... moreYeah, it's kinda laggy. But I'm sure it will get better in the upcoming updates. Besides, use Neophytes kernel, it's better.
I got a question, how's your battery life? Mine is horrible, drops 10% every 3 hours on standby, I think my phone's battery might be faulty...

blahblah, 28 Feb 2011Oh yeah another android! Testing.., Testing..., no differen... moreI think u might be:
1. someone who Nokia paid to promote Symbian. eventhough Nokia itself already gave up on Symbian. that's why they picked up Windows 7 instead.
2. someone who is a real Nokia user. if u r this, i dont even know how u can survive with those laggy device(s).
admit it, Symbian need to be upgraded, indeed. oh well, Nokia doesnt care about Symbian so much rather than Windows 7. oh uh, whatever.
