The new Nokia 3310: a tug on the heart strings that failed

02 March 2017
The 3310 is fondly remembered but this does not feel like a genuine attempt to resurrect it.

It should be a basic 2nd one-sim communication device without fancy features. Just add a light, gps, (radio present), bigger in size (as though it has been enlarged by 20 percent in a photocopier) for Grandma. Since 2g is shutting down make it in 3g. May be color but i still pefer monochrome for sunlight reading. Cut costs and etrash, dont want adapter.., we have lots of them.

well, even though the fone seems useless and worthless, i would still buy it. may I'd listen to music on it, but idk why would i use it for. this device could had been a must have for everyone ifffff nokia were smart enough to actually spend time improving this device instead of just creating a hype

Perfect backup mobile phone when roaming overseas like Philippines, no need for flagship ones as once you flaunt it to public, its bye bye
          your phone is gone :)=)

I would probably still get the new 3310 anyway and put it next to the og 3310 if I can find them both fairly flawless.

Nostalgia might seem like a liar and illusion but it is still nostalgia. It isn't like we are paying much for a new one and while it can't be a backup phone since 2G is being phased out here, I can still use it for music and FM radio. We love the feeling of nostalgia like hearing an old song in our younger days.

I probably would get Nintendo Switch too just for the heck of it even though I repeatedly have criticized it. Put it right below an NES Classic Edition. Nintendo and Nokia raised a generation of people like me, so both will always have a special place in our hearts.

The og 3310 would probably still work another thousand years with a new and correct battery for it long after we bite the dust. It belongs in an episode of Futurama. Nokian 4 life.

I do hope they start putting the old S60 into those new entry level phones they are releasing . Majority who buy Nokia entry level phones will not care about apps much imo, they will provide more value for money than those new low level androids which perform ok out of the box but become crappy with little use :(

Wish Apple didn't start this App craze cz then symbian , meego and other good Os's of old would still be alive ... ✌🏻

LOL do you know that Symbian is the first to utilise multi core ARM?? Android only started dual core on LG Optimus 2X but checkout your N95(and a couple of other models) - yep it is dual core only Nokia didn't advertise it as such.. Symbian had native Task Manager from the start, native File Manager that is still missing on Android, and micro-SD hot swap without turning off the phone - a feat Andoid could only dream of

Maybe the sell price of 1 phone is equal to the manufacturing cost of 6 phones.

Jack Preacher , 03 Mar 2017I'm asking cz I'm curious . Is there a possibility of br... moreNowadays, when manufacturer made a SMARTPHONE with an OS, most of the people will demand TWO things: update support, BIG apps store which offers FREE apps.
From here, rise a question: DID NOKIA in their SYMBIAN ERA EVER DO ANY ONE OF THE TWO THINGS I MENTIONED ABOVE before Android born? NEVER.

I own several very old Symbian phone (7650, 3650, Siemens SX1), and NONE OF THEM gets update. When u want to install apps, u must BUY or DOWNLOAD IT from untrusted site which provides cracked/unlocked .sis/.sisx file, WITH THE RISK OF GETTING FAKE APPS or REAL APPS BUT ADDED WITH VIRUS/TROJAN.
p.s. Symbian Anna or Belle are Nokia's "last effort" to keep Android growing bigger, BUT since Nokia insist on making CHEAP smartphone with CHEAP specs to compete with Android which offers GOOD smartphone with CHEAPER price, NOKIA's downfall is unavoidable.

Now, when people are AWARE of the importance of apps market, OS update, specs sheets, and so on, NOKIA (HMD) cannot hope for people to BUY their OVERPRICED outdated smartphone, WHILE it's still possible to sell OVERPRICED feature phone which ONLY SELLING POINT is NOSTALGIA, right?
U r right, today's specs, even SD2xx ones, will made Symbian OS runs buttery smooth, as that OS is VERY LIGHTWEIGHT (if I'm not wrong, even Symbian Anna or Belle full package size are no more than 200mb), BUT who, IN THEIR RIGHT MIND, will buy Symbian OS with SD2xx, as Nokia will OVERPRICED it in the name of NOSTALGIA, BRAND, and QUALITY while we can buy GOOD Quality, CHEAP Android phone with SD65x or SD8xx?

in case u don't remember, before 2009, Nokia is VERY MUCH use the marketing strategy APPLE use till now, making their fans SHEEPS who will buy ANYTHING with NOKIA brand it it, with LITTLE INNOVATION, unlike Sony Ericsson which is FULL of innovation at that time (Higher pixel Camera, CCD censor, Li-po battery, TFD display, Symbian UIQ OS, music-oriented phone, etc)

Also would be nice if Nokia first announce foldabe two screen pohone like 5inch + 5inch and when unbend you have 10 inch tablet. So when fold phone you have 5 inch phone what will fit in pants. But its foldable can be right side from other side, not from phone top. Its would be foldable like Nokia E90 2017, just without keyboards, just two 5inch+5inch screens. And Nokia can call it transformer phone. Its will be better nor today phabet. It would be like have compact phone and talbet in one small compact Phone, like iPhone SE piece, what fits in pocked. Sure Nokia can release Nokia E90 design with keyboard version and bigger screen, also just with android 2017 version, like also E7 2017 android version.

Luziaf, 03 Mar 2017I wish nokia x7 goes android. Love that design. Yes it will be okey upgrade to android 2017 version. But what i think look best Nokia with wat need back is best Cameraphone like was Nokia before, best low light camera quality. It's maybe hard beat today phones camera technology because camera technology evolved lot. But past was camera monter in these days like Nokia PureView 808 with best 38 MP camera sensor. Would be nice to see upgraded Nokia Android Pureview camera. We have good procesors today days. Also Nokia can show us something new inventions like 360 angle camera in phone. Also from wp i like low light flash managing after shot like indoor or like low light photography. Would nice to see this in android and something new inventions in Nokia cameras. Yes design in nokias phones can't compare to anything. In now days we not see so much design like was earlier. I like nokia E7 design, think it best, because it like communicator with keyboard, and also can have niche in qwerty keyboarded android world world, because keyboard have some benefits, what people are missing, special for older people what have bad fingers cordination maybe. Others forget or even dont know about them. I think would nice try Nokia. Also was good N97 design. But like this nokia phones would be bulky. But Nokia E7 solved it. I also like Blackberry Priv. Big screen. Just need upgrade hardware, best technologies, and install Android. Sure we remeber good Nokia phones material quality. Like n8. Also technical quality lasts long. But in these days they old faster because new procesors and connectivity technologies. cameras every year. This is good. Glad that Nokia trying back. Hopping they be success again. And will Nokia make great again.
