Sony Xperia XZ Premium awarded Best New Smartphone at MWC 2017

Xperia XZ Premium won for “Best new smartphone”, while the Galaxy S7 edge gets the “Best Smartphone 2016” statuette.

    XZ is a beautiful and powerful device with top notch specs... People deciding on MWC prizes recognized that.
    Simple as that.

      I used the samsung tablet 7" six seven years ago as a phone , drew attantion and remarks from EVERYBODY. samsung note 2 , than 5.2" z3 z5 and than z5 and x compacts . I love my compacts, these are real phones for 24 hours use. premiums and big screens I might buy and use just for the fun of it as mini tv , youtube and movies.

          Well done Sony! I think the XZ Premium deserved it.

            bezeles are ugly but very much needed . for gamers who hold it by hand, i am not one of them but for camera use it is a must for me . I hold the camera in one hand firmly , one hand only. the camera sit in my hand fingers behind under the lens and under camera and thumb on screen , no way it will fall at any but any position and right hand free for setting and shutter realease from screen or button . I have learned it after camera falles numorous times when old the outer frame corners with four weak fingers.

And that led them to release G6 with S821. Whereas Sony just announced XZP and about to release in Late Spring, probably one month after the S8's arrival or may reach stores along with S8. This enabled them to get S835 in enough numbers. Whereas LG hurried things up, not that Samsung stopped everyone from getting their share of S835. Simple, if you want it do it like Sony or else do it like LG. Anyhow LG has V30 up in its sleeves, so nothing to worry about G6.

                    Yeah, the bezels are the main thing that holds this device from becoming premium outside. They look as extreme as in Pixel's. Well, at least Sony's glassy finish doesn't look as fugly as on the latter.

                          Compliments to Sony for the fantastic specs, but they absolutely need to work hard to reduce those horrible bezels. Great specs, horrible bezels.

It looks... moreAre you one of those ppl that are walking down the street and are listening to music with their phone on speaker mode?? Apart from that disgusting behaviour, I don't see the need for for stereo speakers on mobiles, on tablets when you can a watch a movie home, OK maybe, but on mobiles? Mobiles are meant to be mobile, the less bezel the better, the more bezel, the less mobile they become. And if you want loud external speakers and want to carry and listen loud music on the go, you can always get a portable speaker untill you discover the existence of of headsets, still this is not an excuse for XZ's huge bezels...

                                Im afraid tho Samsungs Galaxy S series are always the main contenders in sales, along with iphones....
                                Not because they are better, but because they do heavy agressive marketing.

If G6 got those, definitely it would have got that.

                                      I love my XZ. Great phone. I've had Samsung and LG phones and have found the one I consider the best based on my use. Quality build great specs and feels great in the hand. Fast and responsive experience. I did have to Flash to UK firmware to get fingerprint sensor though. Not sure why left off US models.

                                        They dont sell very well because cheaper.options out there. But of that sales, about 70-80% are flagships.
                                        And they are, although not much, but profitable...
                                        And with quality devices like XZ and XZ Premium....they will grow and increase, slowly but steadily....
