Hmmm Google wants to go after Apple but timing is completely wrong. Apple is the only brand who can ask such high prices and make huge profits out of it. If it's that that Google is after, i think they will fail. Plus, people are more and more value aware and the growth of chinese brands like huawei and others, will make this extremely difficult.
But let's see what happens...

I have used bezel less devices but the bezels of the XZ Premium never made me feel wanting it. S7 Edge's main problem is accidental touches when holding the phone. And the cause? Yep, because of lack of bezels.
2. Sony has excellent image processing throughout the years, but it is more for professionals and you need to ticker the right one before you get the best one. Sadly, reviewers criticize the image for lacking details when they are using the 8mp Auto Mode when 20mp Auto Mode destroys even the Pixel's camera that is considered to be "the best". You need to do it yourself and not just basing on what other people are telling you because to see is to believe.
3. Neither the Pixel nor any other phone does well in low light. There has been a comparison in YouTube with the XZs, Pixel, and iPhone 7 Plus, and one out of one low light shots was won by the XZs. and how does the Pixel compare? Yep, overexposed and lack of detail.

4. It's because of AMOLED technology. AMOLEDs are efficient but lacks in most things. Color accuracy is poor, and pentile pattern isn't as good as RGB pattern as LED. A 2K AMOLED display is just as sharp as 1080p LED display because of pixel pattern. If you think 4K is a waste of resources, then Samsung and other manufacturers are as well gonna waste a lot of resources since Samsung and some are going on the same route as Sony does. If you haven't tried it yet, why are you complaining already? You don't even know how Sony's software optimization takes an advantage

Better if they stuck to the nexus values and make the device as premium as possible with affordaility in mind.

No, thank you if by "continue to be premium" you mean a mediocre phone for literally more than a flagship price. Pixel was so far my biggest disappointment with Google. If youre going to price your phone as the most expensive on the market, which I advise against, live up to the expectations and really make it absolute bleeding edge. Pixel had nothing that justified its price.

But you forgot I also wrote about bezels, and the first most important use I wrote which can justify those bezels is much bigger battery. I love how you leave those boxes which XZ premium does not tick.
Other things though, sony's image processing is one of the biggest cons of its phone cameras, and it's quite opposite in case of pixel. Second, low light camera performance is terrible on xperia and it's also quite opposite on pixel. Third, in my observation, even 1440p AMOLED panels are more effecticient than some 1080p LCDs. And XZ premium has a 4K LCD. What a waste of precious battery juice. I just hope Google will keep smaller pixel 5" 1080p AMOLED.

A fast, powerful and power-efficient SOC, an ultra fast LPDD4 RAM and NAND flash memory, a camera with dual pixel, OIS and wide aperture lens, a 2k SuperAMOLED that is the best currently, a large battery with high endurance rating, fast wireless charging, KNOX security, Game Launcher, smart power optimization and performance modes. The only edge the Pixel probably has over the S7 is fast update and a slight and negligible difference in UI speed. The S7 is overall the best smartphone of 2016.

The people calling it stupid just might be though just like if they called a food or car stupid. It didn't wake up and started acting like one.
Michael Fisher called it the best Android smartphone out there. Marques Brownlee uses it as a daily driver. It has the best camera in mobile right now. The Verge, Android Authority, and many other sites have called it the best Android smartphone or their favorite. Not that overrated S7 edge.
Don't call it stupid if you never even touched one or simply turned off by its price or rear design. The real owners knows this phone's true brilliance.

Just hoping Google doesn't follow the trend of curved displays and bezel-less sides. This is a passing trend I hope goes away as it ruins the ergonomics and prone to drops and accidental touches. A fad Samsung and Apple fanboys will go gaga over it.
I prefer if Google just trims the top and bottom bezels and leave side bezels alone and flat. I would like a revival of the Nexus One design. I can imagine these Pixels will hardly sell like the Nexus devices and Google will abandon like they did to the Chromebook Pixels and Google Glass.
Don't be surprised if a Google phone will no longer exist in 3-5 years. They are known to experiment and then give up. But if you love Google and their services/ecosystem,Pixels are the only flagships to get.

What's there to change? Snapdragon 835 only has better multitasking when compared to a 821 and 820.
