S8 looks weird. LG G6 also has 18:9 screen, but S8 beside that has curved edge which make phone looking even taller up to something comic. If they wanted to use curved edges ( which is not needed by most of users) they had to use display with another sides ration (definitely not 18:9) to prevent such inproportional look.

I believe the square in front acts as a position for the home button when tapped and a fingerprint sensor when pressed. Samsung would not willingly alienate potential buyers with the often mentioned awkward FPS supposed position.
Either that or samsung is fooling everyone with a seemingly credible leak while preparing to blow our collective minds with a totally different design.

One handed useability needs a combination of both screen size AND phone dimensions - its definitely not just the screen size alone that matters The S4 had a bigger screen than the S3, however it is much easier to use one handed as the overall size was smaller - thinner & slimmer - hence more comfortable to hold and easier to get your thumb across it.
Do you believe that if you put a 4.7" screen (iPhone7 size) into the iPhone 7+, then it would suddenly become easy to use in one hand??! The iPhone's bezels are a shocker, however it's nice, thin, rounded design makes it very comfortable in the hand and hence easy to use.
When a phone becomes slimmer (less wide), thinner (less thick), lighter, and with no hard edges, it becomes more comfortable and easier to hold. If at the same time a screen is made larger (by having slimmer or no side bezels), the useability stays essentially the same.
Screen length/height is a bigger factor in one handed useability however many android phones have capacitive buttons under the screen which we use one handed, so replacing that space/buttons with screen instead isn't as big a change as one might think at first.
My concern is that these phones are rumoured to be "almost the same size as the S7 & S7 Edge.." - not 'exactly' the same size. Photo's make it appear as both a little wider and thicker, which is confirmed by leaked specs (see GSMArena S8 specs page http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s8-8161.php - though they suggest it's thinner). This is the bigger useability issue, as well as for portability (in pants or shirt breast pocket)... and if it's heavier, then this is where it becomes more problematic.

why tall phones these days? I prefer 16:9 with no bezel. It's more ideal, and good for portrait. 2:1 is just to tall, feels awkward in portrait.
And, why the basic s8 is 5.8inch. People keep on increasing screen size. Nobody cares about "compact" these days. Please someone make sub 5" phone with flagship specs. I'm using my phone for professional use, not videos nor gaming. I need smaller one, pocketable, compact, one handed use, but fast. Only z5 compact is ideal, why no other made similar to this.

Anonymous, 07 Mar 2017Still prefer to have a more metallic looking rim. This leak... moreYes. This one reminded me of the jet black iphone7/7plus, looks easily scratched. The S7 edge black pearl looks better.

Looks like the S8+ will be a replacement for my Note 4.
Samsung has done a great job fitting a 6.2" screen into a device smaller in all directions than the GN4. The S8+ screen is 18% bigger than the GN4 ignoring the rounded screen corners.
Not totally sold on rounded bezel edges but apart from that it is perfect for my use.

1.This curved screen meme needs to die, it serves no purpose beyond "it looks so good".

The phone honestly looks ok ... it looks taller and narrower ... thats a bad thing on a phone. I know its because of the edge display. but I wish they could have just maintainted 16:9 rather than some other aspect ratio and made the phone a little but wider ... something like Note 7 was !

AnonD-635553, 07 Mar 2017Talking about Sony copying Samsung please check records fro... moreThen why don't they do advertising ..... lmao ... because no one really cares about bad products from sony. It is quite evident from their declining sales that they lack quality, features and design. Huge bezels, hardly any features, Disastrous camera even though other phones that use their lenses can provide better images (samsung, Lg, Apple) ... horrible UI experience, pathetically overpriced products !!!
you are only one of hardly 100 sony fans left on this planet .. good luck !!!
