08 March 2017
The MWC brought several compelling phones with Nougat, they should accelerate the growth in the months to come.

Android updates are pathetic. Nougat is installed on as many phones as Gingerbread and ICS together. And those two are 5 year old versions of Android. I feel that every new version of Android that Google releases is as painful to them as it is completely ignored by the manufacturers that use Android in their phones. It year a new Android version comes out is just another bullet for Apple to highlight what a mess Android updates are. More or less, you get stuck with whatever you have when you buy the phone. Whereas Apple is updating the iPhone 5...which was released in 2012. How any of you still have working Android phones from 2012 that are at the latest version of the OS? ZERO!

Apolodor, 08 Mar 2017Of course i am stuck at lollipop because samsung fu**ed up ... moreNot to mention that it doesn't really matter. Most apps (still) run so who cares?
Sure, those paranoid attention grabbing "security experts" will always find some flaw (of which majority require physical access to said device). But in reality I haven't encountered anyone with broken, crippled or any other way damaged device due to supposed malware on Android. And some o/t people that I know even use apk's from less reliable sources.

In fact I see more people with cracked backs and fronts because those stupid manufacturers keep using glass for their high-end device. I understand that they do it to sell accessories like bumpers, cases and pouches but this is getting ridiculous. And sites like this whom praise these fragile glass infused devices only make matters worse!

bobby21, 08 Mar 2017Poor performance. My S7 is cheap and great but I fear I hav... moreOh please? You guys are all way too paranoid about those "patches" and upgrades.
The majority of apk's still run on most o/t devices irrespective of the Android version they have. Sure a handful of apps won't run on device Y or Z but that's mainly when trying to run a strict 64-bit app on a 32-bit device (e.g. recent Antutu benchmark suite) or specialist camera apps with RAW support when RAW isn't available on that device (e.g. FV-5 on Galaxy S5).

But until very recent I was still on Android 4.4 and I liked it. At least it looked much better and more original then current iterations of Android. Currently I'm on Android 6.x and apart from the UI, which I don't like, I see no reason to upgrade to Nougat (or any other version). Especially when Nougat is still full of bugs and installing will likely break one thing or another.

You lot have all too much time and nothing to do than toy with your phones and waiting for upgrades. I suspect that most would love to have an update every other day just to keep busy and being able to brag about the latest and greatest (which more often than not isn't so great after all).

Google releases a new Android version but can only be available in devices after a year, and at that time there is already a new one coming.
Marshmallow and Nougat had the worst timing coz after a year being released and with manufacturers trying to get them in their phones, Nougat comes. c'mon Google.
