I guess the next step is to insert ads into words documents, mails and other stuff - perhaps even print ads when you print....
This is the best news Linux have had for a long time....
I have not tried Linux for a decade or so, but stuff like this could make me a Linux user...

After the mess of Windows 8. This is yet another wrong turn for Microsoft. They are loosing goodwill. Those buying new PC, do *pay* for Windows 10.

The alternatives were always there (Ubuntu, Linux, ReactOS, Android, etc) but none has prevailed in reaching what Windows has achieved - broad software support.
You are right about Macs. I only wish I had experienced any of them but they are too expensive and barely upgradeable. I wish phones are hardware upgradable as well.

Oh you poor misinformed people the probability of this ad popping up is exceedingly small. And the real twist is Microsoft doesn't vary the frequency by which this ad is triggered however many OEMs do. Systems with a factory-installed OS from Lenovo, and Dell tend to increase the frequency for home systems while reducing the frequency for business class systems. As to the others well, I have not seen much consistency among their system images. The ability to turn the counters responsible for triggering that ad on, off, or just modifying the probability that it will show up is a fairly simple configuration to change when building a system or deployment image.
Oh! Guess what most Microsoft Signature Edition systems have system images where that ad is completely disabled.

Windows 10 was a free upgrade and the many major update ( also not charging anything). Onedrive as the picture shows give users free cloud storage until some guy abused it and got limited now.
And I guess some of this ads can turn off and you just need to know where to find it in the option. Like the suggestion/recommendation of app in the star manu, you can turn it off.
And also, you think only MS is doing this, check Google out for that matter. The ads in my YouTube is bugging the hell out me and even after I opt out for the ads, it is still there ( and I'm not talking about the ads show before the videos).

I'm amazed that you guys are raising a fuss about this now. Doesn't anybody realize that they first implemented that same ad with the release of the 1511 update, AKA Threshold 2? So they increase the frequency by which you appear or the number of randomly selected systems on which it will become become active, who cares? it's nothing new big done it before. It's not a new tactic it's not even a new ad. Seriously the Candy Crush and other suggested apps and app placeholders are ridiculous. App suggestions in your start menu by default is ridiculous. This which advertises and suggest usage of a Microsoft product which is supposedly designed to work optimally and in unison with the Windows operating system, isn't worth getting worked up about. Only when that ad stays persistent 100% of the time every time you open up the Windows Explorer and can never be hidden will it be worth raising a fuss about. Get over yourselves and find something better to bemoan over.

But I just don't like supporting Apple. I also find their laptop super overpriced. My Alienware is way better than their mac book pro

Man this is epic "One of these days someone will invent an ad blocker for your operating system.". :))))))))))) So this shitish OS with a lot of bugs and lagg if you don't have a surface pro level of performance , which costs 100€ , is putting ads even in File Explorer ? This is too much...Waiting for Chrome OS to have the desktop level of image and video editing tools and some software development tools and I will leave this nightmare once and for all.

Never had any of this ad bs, but will probably switch back to 7 if i ever get that bs or even ditch microsoft as a whole and go full linux.

This is just pathetic. Now this is just another reason for me to switch to Chrome OS. I'm sick and tired of all of these ads everywhere on my computer. Now it's certain that I'll only be sticking with Windows until Chrome OS starts getting developer support for Windows apps, thanks Microsoft
