    Htc is great.. But mistakes have been made lately..

    I would like to see:

    Low end : mediatek helio p10, 5" HD, 2gb ram, 16gb storage, dual sim, 2700mAh, 12/5 mp f2.2 USD 180

    Mid : sd627, 5.2" full hd, 2900mAh, 16/8mp f2.0, 3gb ram, 32gb storage, USD 300

    Premium midrange: SD 660, 5.5" full hd, 3gb ram, 64gb storage, dual sim, 3300mAh 16/10 mp f1.9 , metal body , front speakers, USD 490, ip68, usb c , bluetooth 4.2

    High end: SD835, 5.3" QHD Oled, dual sim, 3500 mAh, 18/12mp f1.9, 4gb ram, 64gb storage, glass body, ip68, front speakers,bkuetooth 5.0 second display like u ultra. USD 700

      HTC should have come up with this model 2 years ago. When most companies are trying to get rid of top/ bottom bezels, HTC is in the still process of reducing it. Time to change my M8 to LG G6.

Look how relatively similar the U Ultra looks to some Samsung devices. Basically, Samsung copied HTC, and HTC came back by doing the same to Samsung. That's how the competition between the two works. Sony made the Z5 Premium with 4K display and has no performance issues, maybe battery, but it barely was affected. Of course any screen will break if abused, so good materials are needed, and that's where HTC is known - well, until the U Ultra which doesn't even live up to the HTC 10 and Pixel phones' level of durability.

                I know HTC phones are excellent, as I have used their flagships and the build is simply superb. But in order to survive, they need to do something exceptional to compete, just like Sony with 960fps slow motion video

As he mentioned other things do come into picture. You need to have better screens, cameras and batteries when you go against other flagships. Just having best audio capabilities alone isn't enough to justify that U Ultra's price tag. If you think S7/S8's audio quality is poor, then there is an option where u can buy a good amp/dac and that issue will be solved to an extant.

                    Listen Im a htc hardcore fan i own the m8 simply amazing but since then its just the same they never moved forward they are stuck wjth the same idea and charging more for less just like apple just tell why the hell would you remove the audio jack ? They are just gathering all the features from the other brand and stick them in their phones and lose customers
                    Im about to buy a new phone and im waiting for it to come out and if i dont like then s8 ftw and ill keep my m8 to listen to music

                          If this has a better camera than the LG G6 & better low light photos I may just return to HTC, not a lover of the Samsung S8 curved screens & price.

                            Sony The Innovator, 03 Apr 2017U Ultra just asked way too much for what it literally offer... moreHTC always behaved like they are Apple in Android realm. HTC lost its charm long back, and there is no evidence that it can reclaim that in near future. They should remember this, forget about Apple, first it has to stay relevant in present situation to survive. Their pricing is outrageous, U Ultra with the late 2016 specs and with no single defining feature(camera, battery, screen....) is priced at par with S8! Not that those specs aren't enough, but when shelling out that much, it's obvious where that money goes. These kind of gimmicks won't work when overall phone experience isn't any good and at a time where their brand recognition is low. HTC 10 was a better offering compared to their previous flagships, but not enough to sway customers towards them. Only Pixels were the saving grace for HTC....

                              And samsung is sh_t compared with HTC magnificent sound quality.

                              And people bashing htc for not included 3.5mm jack perhaps never actually listen to HTC hires audio.
                              And for your info, 'usb type C' hires earphone will be bundled in the U Ocean's box!
                              What better elses choice you could've hope for?

                              Sammy fanboys should listen to htc hires music experience to know how poor performance of their s7 or s8 for that matter.

                              Pair it in with your car audio or any bluetooth speakers, the amplifier htc sound will blown you away!

                                  It will be failed. Yes, your phone should have new things, but not messing with the original experience. If
                                  1) camera
                                  2) battery life
                                  3) display
                                  4) looks.
                                  And waterproofing has become a staple.
                                  Today, to make your flagship to sell well, and want to charge full flagship price, your phone should be on paaaaaar with other in these 4 departments.
                                  And All this while I don't give curved screen extra numbers in looks, but normal ppl do.
                                  G5 failed - bad look, bad battery life. No waterproofing
                                  HTC 10 failed : costlier than s7, but equal at best in camera and display, much worse in battery life. thickness also. Much thicker with bigger bezels, but less waterproof rating and same battery size.

                                  If you make an overall winner, and then add a gimmick, the gimmick will be trend, and you'll sell your phone. if you add a nice new feature, but original phone experience is bad, the product will fail and feature is forgotten.
                                  Example 1) S7 edge / S6 edge
                                  2) v10 /v20 (removable batteries)
