Unfortunately, there are 2 problems with this phone. 1st - no 3.5 mm jack. This is not just a bad but catastrophic decision for the company.
2nd one is size of device. 5.5 inch is just too big for many people. Most of manufacturers offer their flagship device in 2 sizes: phablet format and one hand manageable size. Looks like HTC is going to offer only one big size device which is not a good decision.
Touch sensitive edge etc is good, but lack of 3.5 mm jack destroys all the effort to make a good and successful device.

Sony The Innovator, 03 Apr 2017It ain't matter, but I wonder why it's not as good as the N... moreIt is not about the U ultra anyway. You keep bringing on Samsung which in the end will NEVER be a better phone manufacturer than HTC. Why ? It does not matter if they have a 4K 8K 16K display, eventually it will break like thin ice or lag like a 10 year old phone or drain battery faster than a tank drains oil. people who buy HTC know what they are doing, trust me. If HTC were to be gone, I would switch to SONY, as it comes close to what HTC key points are.
          Just my opinion .

If this phone does come out as it is advertised, then perhaps it will signal the return of the TRUE Htc, the company that innovated new trends instead of following stupid ones. I personally believe that this squeeze sensitive feature, should it come to pass, will be much more useful that the Edge gimmick Samsung phones have. Anyways, here's to hoping for the best

For $500, you can get an unlocked Exynos S7 Edge with vastly better display, better battery, better design, better camera, better durability (IP rated vs not), and arguably better value. For $750, what standing feature does that phone has? Pixel has the best camera for the same price, V20 offers excellent audio for the same price, i7P offers the best performance for a little bit higher performance, XZ has the best display and audio for slightly less. Where does the U Ultra stand there? Tell me. If it was $450, then it could've sold better. Only then, this U Ocean will be the deciding factor on whether HTC will continue or just leave

If you che... moreIt ain't matter, but I wonder why it's not as good as the Note 5, with the same battery capacity, and managed to last 4 hours more. 81h is impressive, just not when compared to relatively similar battery sized phones. S7 with 3,000 managed to have 90h. Okay, I'll skip for the screen size, and I'll give props to HTC for achieving good battery optimization, but it doesn't make up for other key hits like the lack of BoomSound stereo speakers they are known for, and an important one; headphone jack - I thought HTC 10 was the best audio phone of 2016, how does the U Ultra continue that league?

U Ultra, btw, managed to reach that high endurance rating because of its display. Why? Its sunlight contrast isn't as good as top end devices like the iPhone 7 Plus and V20. If that Super LCD5 was as good as the best IPS LCD screens on smartphones today (G6, i7P, XZP, etc.) I don't think it'll come close to that 81h rating. But that's just a theory

Look, I do love HTC's build quality. I'm very impressed of what a tank the Pixel phones and the HTC 10 are. But seriously, HTC followed that up with the underwhelming HTC U Ultra which barely even competes to Samsung, Apple, and Sony in terms of build quality - thing that made me surprised like "Is this the real HTC?!"

And we aren't sure yet of what the U Ocean will be, yet you are making some statements as if it's going to be true (not saying it isn't, but how are you sure exactly?). Mind it, HTC might not even sell as much as Samsung or Apple, let alone Sony with the 4K HDR display phone.

HTC 10 is a great 2016 flagship device, but to follow it up with a mediocre U Ultra that seemed to come from nowhere is just a shaming for such a company who built great reputation in build. I have big hopes for HTC, but let's not say the U Ultra isn't a bad phone for the price it asks, because it is. They could've sold better if the price was around $500 - perfect where outgoing flagships like the XZ, S7 Edge, V20, etc. are currently going down to

I'm glad HTC is back with this one. I pray they don't name HTC U, coz it will the U Ultra is higher while it ain't in real sense. The image being display here isn't the phone we are xpectin....look, when you zoom properly you'd power and volume button. So I believe the latest HTC flagship will be breathe taking. It also appeared they've finally listened to their consumers as the boomsound stereo speakers finds their way back, regards USB-C I really don't why many wanna eat HTC raw, iPhone sells, s8 is also without it no one is shouting when other brands do this...It seems to me many are paid here just to condemn HTC no matter what they came up with....

I think HTC do needs more advertising, well thought out price tag. Samsung does huge advertising in my country like no tomorrow, same thing with Huawei...If HTC can try this...it will sell well.

It will have the SD821 instead of the 835, HTC sense will always be better, build quality the same. LG is OK, the S8 has a stupid placement for their fingerprint sensor, and I8...please, its Apple

It would be awesome if HTC keep the 3.5 jack

Everyday I read bad words and insult for any news that comes from HTC. Really, why? All these people had the opportunities to use all brands and compared them with the UGLY HTC , off course not, it seems unlogic. So it is non-sense to relay on these paid comments when you choose your phone but relay on your own and your nearby experiences. After only 3 months use of a famous brand due to it's good battery use, I faced the bad problems of lag and unreponsivness that change the Android experience into a hell, so I returned to use the fluent HTC one E9+ to continue one and half years of a solid performance and stable UI. That is my experience based on actual phone use not imagination or insincerity.

because htc built is the best from android world, even google acknowledge it twice with nexus one and pixel.

What a joke, the S7 Edge with 5.5" display, IP68 rating, 75% STB ratio, headphone jack, and wireless charging, managed to have 3,600mAh battery. Apple had IP68 rating as a cost of headphone jack removal. Sony managed to fit a 3,230mAh battery inside with IP68 rating, headphone jack, dual front-facing stereo speakers, large camera sensors, and 4K HDR display in a 5.5" body. Is HTC playing April Fools to us so early? Hahahahaha, but it ain't gonna work because we have brains (or at least some do, lol)
