Anonymous, 07 Apr 2017It's Samsung that was marketing C9 Pro as "faster because o... moreIts so funny to see average consumers dont understand what ram is really about. You may think the 6gb ram in C9 Pro is better than 4gb ram in S8 but no its not. Ram is just like camera. Not all 12mp camera is the same. Its aperture is different with some having F/2.0 or F/1.7. You probably already know this and know which is better. Ram is just like that. There are a few type of 6gb ram. The one used in C9 Pro is the slower 6gb LPDDR3 type. That explained a lot why it have so much ram but not as expensive. The one used in Oneplus 3 is the faster 6gb LPDDR4 type. The even better one that I suspect to be used in S8+ is the newest type 6gb LPDDR4X. This ram actually just announced last year. The one already in used by regular S8 is the 4gb LPDDR4X type. You can find cheaper smartphone using the less expensive 4gb lpddr4 ram or 4gb lpddr3 ram.
Since the 6gb LPDDR4X is relatively new I assumed that they couldnt get their hand on it as many as they could for the S8 & S8+ thus made the decision to save it for China and Korea market only. Just so you know, Samsung will not manufacture this new memory, apparently SK Hynix will make the LPDDR4X.The LPDDR4X needs much less juice compared to LPDDR4. The LPDDR4 needs 1.1V while the new LPDDR4X needs 0.6V – 45 percent less. This is a huge saving as every mAh of battery counts.

I hope that this version comes to India as well.
I am not too crazy about extra RAM but I really need that extra storage. 64GB is so last year.

Higher graphics frame rate, infinity background multitasking, blazing processing speed and power definitely will

Anonymous, 07 Apr 2017To give app developers excuses for wasteful appsWrong answer.
it's for ram caching which is basically the primary way through which you can make your phone fast (er). Assets are stored in ram so when you recall an app it doesn't take an age but rather a split second. Ram storage is 100 times faster than nand , so you get 100 times the speed for IO.
High ram phones feel more responsive and are actually quite faster day to day. Just oneplus it blows all 2016 phones (and possibly most 2017 phones) out of the water. Ram plays a huge role as it recalls from nand very rarely.

I was waiting for a replacement for my Ill fated Note 7, I was hoping S8+ would have come with SPen, Sadly it didn't.
It's a nice looking phone but lacks a better screen, 6 gig of Ram is going to become the industry standard for flagships and the battery could have been slightly bigger.
Im also annoyed that Samsung yet again discriminates again Europe again for the 3rd time.
1St) No Note 5 official release.
2nd) No 6 gig Ram version for the ill fated Note 7
3rd) No 6 gig version S8.

NokiaBeast, 07 Apr 2017That and the old iPhone 6s would destroy it in performance ... moreIphones need less Ram because they have cut backgrounding. Try to keep a file downloading or a Web page loading in the background .., you can't. Try to run a service like "tasker" or messenger's chat heads ... you can't.
So yes iphones can store more apps in the background despite the lesser ram, but that's only because Apple has pretty much killed backgrounding.
Then instead try to do the same to a 6GB android. Guess what! You can, not only that 6GB androids are often cheaper than 2GB iphones. Not only that, you can keep as many apps as an iPhone, but trully keep them in the background, a bit of how when you minimize on Windows enabbing true multitasking.
So imagine having all that, obviously the 6GB android option is the better option in general.
