22 March, 2011
A Samsung Galaxy S II prototype escaped a bit early from the factory and we already have its first review, complete with plenty of live shots, camera samples and screenshots. The great news is...

It's getting clearer and clearer that G2 will be the best handsets this year! The only question remaining is about the price.....I hope it won't be higher then 600€....

I wonder if they are waiting on announcing the release date on the possibility of them making the t-mobile version come with Att 3g bands just like the G2x.

NoName, 23 Mar 2011No it's actually a 8mp camera the N8 has a 12mp camera. Meagapixels don't really matter when we are talking about video recording. And this guy at gsmarena has already said that it takes the best videos and is a winner among all platforms, what I am asking is, is this statement said considering n8 a smartphone? ;) or n8 is still the winner?

          Uh, REALLY?

"It is also capable of playing MKV files, which is one of the very few video formats that the original Galaxy S didn't support out of the box."

I am from Singapore which is the first country in the world to get galaxy S and I can tell you with 100% certainty that it DID support mkv out of the box on a 2.1 firmware JF4 in the very first week of May 2010. You guys need to verify your facts.

AnonD-4158, 23 Mar 2011Uhh. Why are people always worrying about how late Samsung ... moreBecause we always want the latest stuff from Google. It's okay not to get an update if your device is incapable of handling it but this is not the case with the SGS 1. The hardware is very capable but Samsung is lazy to update it but they are not lazy when it comes to releasing new phones. There's the XDA but not everyone knows they even exist or knows how to root their phone. Not every Galaxy S customer is a geek and no custom ROM is perfect and some are even buggy.

              Samsung's 3 step strategy:
              1. Release a high- spec'd handset
              2. Update the handset once
              3. Release a new high- spec'd handset

Uhh. Why are people always worrying about how late Samsung update their devices? Android is known for frequent updates but it only fixes some little to no minor bugs. I, for one, will buy this phone if the price tag is below $500. (Wishing. LOL.)

This is currently the best Android device hardware-wise. Most Androids have crappy hardware except for Samsung since they are the biggest hardware company in the world.

this is one of the best phone Samsung has got, but the time they are taking to release the phone is decreasing my interest in the phone and other thing would be the price. whenever ill get indication of the price tag that would be my moment to decide whether to get this phone or not as every competitor would be having good phone to beat the Samsung gs2. the price better be under or equal to NZD $1000 otherwise better to go with apple iPhone 5. its the best.............

                                Dear GSM Arena
I have a SGS since day one and it always played MKV files (720p x264 AC3) with stock firmware/software.
Playback quality went from good to perfect with the maturing of the firmware but it worked from the start.

Liked the smoothness of UI, very good job! Phone itself is too big for me (need to try it), i think i'm going for iPhone 5, but this is definately best alternative option.
