In my years of working, I rarely come across customers having problems with their Galaxy, Sony and iPhones (except water damage or defected unit). But they are MANY customers come to me to have their Xiaomi, Vivo, Axon (and other cheap Chinese phone) fixed or refunded. From bluetooth not working, extreme lag, flashlight not working, wifi not connecting, phone got extremely hot, storage corrupted, wobly buttons, flickers screen, fingerprint not working properly and many others. Cheap brand phone are just not reliable.
I advice all of you to stick to respectable and big brands such as Samsung, Apple, Sony, LG, HTC, Huawei when buying phone. Small budget company (like Xiaomi) are just not worth your money. Don't get fool by the specs guys!

But in reality, Xiaomi failed at connectivity, customer support, battery longevity, display calibration, build quality, storage speed, camera quality, audio quality, image processing, repetitive design, etc
The fact is Xiaomi really can give you the better value phone, but they can never give you the better phone. Don't get fool by the specs.

Let me remind you. Equally bezeless, 6GB of Ram, latest SoC (of the time), 4400mah battery, 2k screen (only issue actually), but a reasonable/useful aspect ratio.
One does not have to be like Apple to upgrade the internals, you can do it while you also upgrade the "externals" ...

Samsung fans remind me of iphone fans were minor differences make them wet.
Samsung used to be all about specs just see the difference between S3 to S4 (american version)
1) Twice the processing power (~80% increase in actual use)
2) 60% more ram speed
3) Significantly better camera (60% more pixels + a much better lens)
4) Twice the amount of of pixels on the screen (from 720p to 1080p)
5) 10% bigger screen, despite the phone *actually* becoming smaller
6) Minimized bezels (72% BtR on a 5 inch phone!)
7) 25% more battery
8) IR support added (supremely useful actually)
And this happened between one generation and the next.
It's incredible, it's what Samsung used to do.
And it's not just S3 -> S4
it's S1 -> S2 too
it's S2 -> S3 to a lesser extend too...
You may say times have changed so abrupt changes are out.
Simply not true. Apart from SoC everything else evolves very rapidly still.
They could use carl zeiss camera
They could use 6 or even 8GB of Ram
They could use 4000+ Mah battery by making the phones only slightly thicker
They could use a 4k screen that operates as 1080p screen to save energy, but while on VR it's 4k
I mean all those are technologies that exist out there which would justify the $900 price ... but they used *none*
Samsung purposefully keeps back. She didn't use to and that *bothers* me. But people defending that behavior bother me even more. I mean what do you have to gain by defending a company that tries to save money by fattening her margins?

Definitely an excellent news. Because despite the lacks, etc, of some specs, such as: lack of 6GB RAM (international), lack of stereo speakers, almost the same main camera, battery could be better & terribly placed fingerprint, etc. Apart those things, the S8/+ are fantastic phones. And hopefully Samsung will correct them in the Note8 (probably just not the battery, and maybe it will be even slightly smaller, to don't risk nothing)

The Note8 and S9 will look practically like the S8 but better internally. The S8 is the beta like the Note edge and S6 edge were for the S6 edge+, S7 edge, and Note7 that followed.
Companies can only do so much with another slab design. In two years, most phones will start looking alike like a bunch of Asian dudes inside a health spa. Especially onea in the common black color scheme. HTC used the same M7 design for two consecutive years after it.
S8 is the iPhone 4 of the S line. Prettier outside. Mostly the same inside with a rebranded A4 chip that was like the 3Gs SoC from Samsung. Won't age as well like the 4s's dual core CPU and stronger GPU did.
Or the iPhone 6/6+ stuck with only 1gb RAM when all smart buyers had to do was wait another year for it to be doubled. Even the SE has more RAM than the 6! But the iPhone 6 did sell the most ever.
Looks fade. Talent lasts. Look at Jessica Alba's acting career to realize that. Nobody cares about her anymore because they realize she has no talent. Skip the tick and rock with the tock. The stronger twin. S9 will be the refined model of the S8. Patience is a virtue.

In my country, S8 and 8+ are priced at 739 and 819 respectively. And get only case, jbl charge 3. Also screen repair service.
At least we dont need to pay extra for warranty if we want to avoid spending $200 for screen replacement.

But what I can tell you is that Stuff magazine compiled all the tech reviews available to see which phone got the best reviews in 2016. S7 Edge came overwhelmingly on top, followed by S7. So i'm not sure what more proof you want of the S7 Edge and S7 pretty much being regarded as the best phones available on the market...

2) Nobody even knows what Bluetooth 5 is. The devices supporting it exclusively will be out in 5 years or so. It's a terrible gimmick to milk naive customers like you.
3) 10% from last year is literally the smallest upgrade in the history of phones. Up until yesteryear we used to get 30-40% ... it's practically the same. Nobody would see a difference due to the SoC alone
4) Read man. Read! I was responding to the guy saying that FFC is set to be great. I told him, no! Samsung's selfie cams are of the worst in the market. It won't change with S8
5) VR is Samsung's thing. It's *they* that market it, it's *they* that s*ck so much at it by the terrible screendoor (beehive) effect that pentile screens create. And they *still* use pentile, meaning that they do not care about the customer. Only care to make a fool of him. 4th generation in row that they have not fixed thier VR (which s*cks)
6) 2.05:1 screen is far from symmetrical, a phone with total dimensions' ratio of 2.2:1 is actually the least symmetrical smartphone ever devised (ideal is close to 2:1) . So no, Samsung does not strive for symmetry or usefulness, they strive to dazzle through gimmicks. This last point of yours made me sure that you're the one who's trolling. No way you think that 2.2:1 is a symmetrical ratio and/or black empty bars while gaming or on videos is a good thing. It was a terrible decision from Samsung's part.

No reason not to add 6GB or 8GB of RAM (indeed china will get this)
No reason not to add ~4000 Mah battery (most chinese makers do exactly this)
^ *Those* are flagship specs. *Those* are what old Samsung would put to her phones.
Instead they use the same ram (just sliiightly faster). The same SoC (just 10% faster), the same resolution (slightly modified for the taller aspect ratio), same battery despite the bigger screen.
There's nothing good about this phone and the more "word of the mouth" gets out the more it will be losing sales. Of course reviews would think it's the 2nd coming, but thankfully most people avoid reviews at this point.

iPhone Same Edition of 2013 is uglier than the Galaxy S6 edge, S7 edge, and S8 thanks to its ugly top and bottom bezels.
You are judging a phone based from the back that nobody looks at and gets covered by a case. My $215 space gray SE is on the way, btw. Looks outdated next to my HTC One M7 that came out earlier and S7e.
I expect typing on a 4" display will be annoying like Appletards who haven't adapted to bigger screens yet and still stuck in 2012.

[deleted post]Actually you are wrong mate....only a few days ago an article about the S8 duo pre order sales was posted and in that article it even said the same thing and i quote "that preorders dont account for sales, but it gives you an indication as to demand numbers" most preorders will go through stores and in turn they will purchase X amount of stock to cover customers orders so as with EVERY manufacturer this is a guesstimate which will turn into sales. But the point is....once it has left the warehouse of samsung and its partners then it is considered a sale as another company or person has purchased the stock
