Sony Ericsson to invest £4M in new XPERIA line ad campaign

24 March, 2011
It's no secret that the future of Sony Ericsson as a company is hugely dependent on the success of their XPERIA smartphone lineup. So it's no wonder that company is throwing so much effort in their ad...

SE, you lost me (and MANY others) after 5 generations of SE phones with the dismal support you provided current Xperia - how long do you plan to support these new devices before dumping it for something even newer? 6 Months? Maybe a year this time???
Most of us sit with a minimum of 24 months contracts (in south Africa at least) - 24 months worth of support/updates would at least be nice!

I now sit with a device that will not be upgraded in the future because SE is afraid that people won't buy new hardware ... pity, now a LOT of people will move to other brands because of SE's attitude!

"Seriously, Sony Ericsson!? It's like Apple calling the iPhone the first iPod certified device in the world"
... I have to disagree with this. It's more like Google calling the Nexus One the first Android certified device in the world.

From what we've seen SE has pretty much just developed a piece of "PlayStation" software for Android, which like any other piece of software can run on any compatible device. It would make sense for them to make this software available to other handset manufacturers (probably for a fee, and with strict device compatibility requirements) to the benefit of both companies.

There are many ways this can work well, and the market has shown that they're happy to play games on their phones, so long as the games are good!

It's good to know that S/E are promoting their devices. They should learn from samsung who offer the most boring products in the world yet they sell well because they promote their devices.

At least this time the devices are worth advertising! And before any samsung fans fire back on me, tell me does samsung have any interesting device other than the Galaxy? guess not, yet they keep advertising 24/7 for all the other useless devices they have got.

At least now s/e will be advertising for gadgets that are truly appealing and have great features.

Finally, when will people wake up and understand that android still doesn't support dual cores!! Please don't be brainwashed by specs that you won't even benefit from them. Whenever android 3.0 comes out than let's speak about dual cores.

i'm using x10 myself, and i love my phone. It's still very top of the line in 2011. No dual-core but thats fine, its only 1 step down from the best. 1ghz is still plenty good in 2011.
