Sony Ericsson to invest £4M in new XPERIA line ad campaign

24 March, 2011
It's no secret that the future of Sony Ericsson as a company is hugely dependent on the success of their XPERIA smartphone lineup. So it's no wonder that company is throwing so much effort in their ad...

Very disappointed with SE for using customers as their guinea pigs in their X10 Android debut. No more SE for me. They only care for new customers and not existing ones, otherwise they would have pushed out Froyo for X10 rather than make excuses. Giving us vanilla UI is better than that Timescape crap. The last great SE phone was surely the K750i. Bye SE.

      "Playstation Certified"

I'm assuming they're hinting that there will be more than one device with this certification. Either future generations of Xperia Play, or from other manufacturers like Samsung...

Or another reason that they use this is because Sony and Sony-Ericsson are still separate companies. The Playstation branding team probably have strong standards of what is worthy of their branding.

"iPod Certified" is not a fair comparison...

the CPU, GPU, and gingerbread are all lame!
X-play is unfinished product of Android. even if it got dual core cpu, gingerbread doesn't have the ability.
so, if you want to be a pioneer and don't mind throwing bucks from your pocket, then It's your call!

Please can people stop crying about the X10 Fiasco! The reason the updates took so long was because of the implementations of the Timescape/mediascape UI on top of Android. and remember also that the X10 came loaded with 1.6 and WAS updated to 2.1.
I once bought a car without a CD Player, I didn't throw a hissy fit and spit my dummy out when the manufacturer started supplying CD Players - its the same thing. if every phone was infinatly updatable then no-one would buy new phones would they?
Here is a summary of the differences between Android 2.1 and 2.3:

                      Summary:

                      1. Gingerbread has system-wide copy/paste functionalities while Éclair does not
                      2. Gingerbread has a download manager while Éclair does not
                      3. Gingerbread has NFC support while Éclair does not
                      4. Gingerbread has Flash 10 support while Éclair does not
                      5. Gingerbread has WiFi tethering while Éclair does not
                      6. Gingerbread is more optimized than Éclair

These are not bdeal breakers. and for Front facing cameras?! who are you kidding? Feature Phones like the V630 / K800i / K850i had them and no-one ever used them.

I think they should spend the £4,000,000 by giving away the phones and having competitions. But better than that making the phone AFFORDABLE!!! C'mon the device is aimed at teenagers, and who can afford a £35 contract with no jobs and tough times!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just have a bad fealing again abouth SE putting almost whole its future on a phone or two. like 2 or 3 years ago when they put their future on x1 and satio. as i see it its been only way down since x1 (in my eyes the last good high-end SE).

You are correct. It is better to invest in ads than in your own developers and give better support to old X10 products. Good luck
