Windows Vista was the reason I switched to Ubuntu! Never looked back.

Used Windows Vista from late 2009 till early 2016. Now upgraded to 10.
I got it on a Dual Core machine with 3 gigs of RAM and it worked really good on it, only thing is that it is really a power hungry OS and used to occupy more than 90% of my RAM all the time no matter what i am doing or sitting idle watching a movie. But it never made me think i needed an upgrade, i only upgraded my OS because of 10's attractiveness. No doubt 10 is very responsive and user friendly but man, i have given my 6+ years to this OS so i wont say that its a bad OS. It was a really good and stable OS, just needed more care and love (RAM & cores).

I have very good memories with Windows Vista. I was about 12 yeras old when i spent all my saved money for buying a dual(quad) core pc that can run Windows Vista smoothly! And in fact it was perfect in that time.

Stayed on XP till 8 came out.

I really liked windows vista when I was a kid. Because at that age I only cared about the user interface.

Only good OS till now according to my knowledge is Windows 7 and Windows XP.

But currently I'm using Windows 8.1 and 10.

I feel like Windows Vista was the misunderstood OS.
I'd prefer it over XP on the right hardware.

I think Windows 7 was a big improvement though.

I still have my Vista Business (I think that's what it's called) laptop from 2009, still running ok. In fact, this laptop did not have ANY software/OS issue at all. Granted, I only installed MS-Office, DropBox and some Steam games (light ones at that). It used to be my main/daily rig (hence the MS-Office software). Due to its age, I've had to change the HDD to SSD just last year and the screen is now so uninspiring to look at. Now it's relegated to a once in a full-moon usage - if any at all.
