Err... There is ONE phone with 4 and 8gb capabilities. The Nokia N91. This phone has far more features, but because of apple reliability issues i've had in the past, i'd go with the nokia because i know it's a brand i can trust.

It's an iPhone, they said it was "only 8 gb" because the Ipod video has a minimum of 20gb. Think, people!

95% of the worlds computers run MS OS, if innovation doesnt sell then its pointless, apple didnt follow up with the newton and cant claim that the success of PIM devices during the last 10 years was because of them.Vista looks like tiger OS, so what Apple stole the GUI concept from Xerox and then MS copied it as well. Its called good business and "innovation" is a term used to market products. If the copying of concepts was that bad there would be ten times more lawsuits then there are allready. So why dont we just call it sharing. If Apple can make a technology be economicaly viable, then great for them and hopefully great for the consumer.

Just two things I wish they will consider with next generation:
Solid State Drive of at least 32gb, considering the price will drop in the meantime
HSDPA, instead of slow EDGE!
Announce their take on SSD: just $169 for the 16GB. 32GB and 64GB versions will be available by the end of 2006. This is a lot cheaper that the SanDisk, hopefully we will see them in the next generation of iPods, iPhone, as well as the OQO and Sony UX ultra portable computers.
THe fact is, the IPOD dropped from 30gb to 8gb, this is why so many users are not happy.

8gb is plenty, but this is the IPOD, and users are used to 30-80GB!

The above model is a U.S only spec with network locking to Cingular (and AT&T). Europe and Asia are rumoured to have a different model which will include 3G and HSDPA support. By the time its get released for these markets, it will have to support 3G to gain any sales.

I think some of you should get a life because Microsoft and Apple are good in their own rights. And Vista although lots of its ideas came from OSX it will be Microsofts best OS ever. And like I said the default OS for 95 percent of all computers users is Windows. So you can see who clearly wins. Apple are good for multimedia and for secruity, but Windows is catching up. So you can bag each other all you want, but really it comes down to what you personally perfer, for me its Windows just because I've grown up with it in a sense.

...only 8GB of memory, wtf?, is there any mobile that has that much memory on it?, also if there is, do they compare to the iPhones sleek size?....I doubt it

It is true that Apple steals alot of its products from ideas from other companies but its nothing compared to what Microsoft did to Apple. Many years ago it signed a contract with Apple allowing them to use anything they wanted from Apples current OSX. But when Microsoft wanted to make a new OS Apple said they couldn't use anymore ideas from their OSX, so Microsoft took them to court and one so they have the right to use almost any idea they want (as long as they call it something else).

by the time this phone comes out everything is old. it is basically a touchscreen Nseries with the apple branding. In a word this phone is Weak. So many people will have this phone that it will loss its prestigiousness. it isn't that great of a phone but good design. that's it and nothing more.

hahaahaha some more laughter from me...
first... we have the apple newton... so we created PIM devices first? Apple has a working model showing the world how it should work... do you really think all these are just 1 month of work? that must be kidding!
OH! BTW... don't we all know who is the one that created a GUI OS?
let us not guess which come first.... cause nothing is unique these days
