The design looks to be similar to the U Ultra. Too bad it's doesn't have the all-metal design of past HTC flagships.

Mostly commenting on the design and others on the hardware specs.
If you don't like it don't buy simple as that.
Now go home and get your homework done

Blech, is that a glass back?

I can't believe the ill-conceived glass back idea has come back and taken over so many phone manufacturers. If you like cracked and broken backs to your phones, then, don't worry you're going to get one.

It's especially sad to see HTC go this way, since they invented the unibody aluminum phone, with the original Nexus One. I wish they would stick to these type of unibody designs.

Personally I like the fingerprint sensor on the front. Seems natural and convenient for thumb.

zah, 17 Apr 2017please Change Your Boooring Designer looks very poorExactly! Boring as hel.
Htc was my favorite underdog but the last couple of years... they lost their way.
Every time they disappoint with camera or design, battery, software, speakers(lack of) or those big ugly bezels.

Lord Bayron, 17 Apr 2017have to admit that after seeing GS8/GS8+ and G6 I got a bit... more87% BtS ratio is practically impossible. G6 is 78%, S8 and Mi Mix are 84% ... 87% especially for a company that loves bezels (like HTC) is insane. 90% on the other hand is impossible for everybody, so it's either a lie or a misquote when this number is referenced.

                  Again huge bezels by HTC

I have to admit that I got a bit spoiled after the g6 and GS8 duo...very beautifull design and excellent specs actually making them most wanted smartphones of 2017...however this one could be actually a good device..heard that cameras on U Ultra are pritty good and along with some upgrades they'll be excellent in this one...HTC should learn from all of their devices, they should combine One x10, U series and the One M series...still think that it's a shame that they gave up on the metal unibody and don't have ront facing speakers like they had before. Hope they won't ditch the 3,5mm jack..insted they should put even better DAC inside and combine it with that earpiece tech they have along the edge sense technology trhat will actually be very helpfull when we talk about using the phone with the one hand...5,5QHD screen should use less bettery than the 5,8QHD one and the phone should be overall faster with better batterylife...put the 3600+mAh battery nad lover the bezzels and you have hte winner..currently posess the One M8 dual sim and it works buttery smooth after the last update...HTC do the improvments over (bezzelless phone, 3600+mAh battery, keep the 3,5mm jack, front facing stereo boomsound speakers with the metal unibody) and you'll have the world :)..hope I don't have to say anything about the waterproofing..also look over to the Nokia for additional build quallity and some design inspiration

AnonD-654964, 17 Apr 2017RAM is important, but it is not everything. -ANDROID UserIt's everything! (As far as performance goes). Watch all the youtube videos showing how phones perform when launch apps or revert apps from ram (C4etech , phonebuff). 6GB phones *always* win in day to day performance.

I truly hope it will not be a glossy fingerprint magnet and a wide "shovel" with top specifications. HTC nailed it with One M7 and after that not sure what happened. They should make few good phones and just keep changing them better not trying to make revolution every year.

Has someone thought about what is one of the reasons why even old I phones are so popular? Its the SIZE. There are people out there who prefer to have phone with reasonable size and same time having top specs, like M7 what you can operate in one hand without need to extra stretch your thumb to reach top menu.

Xperia Compact is not good example here. Its plastic feel, its fat, poor screen to body ratio - nowhere near giving the feel of high end phone. Just take the M7 body, upgrade it with latest specs and get it on the market.

There is no point whats so ever to produce 10 different mid-range models and think why company has bad times.

                          large bezels... pass

have to admit that after seeing GS8/GS8+ and G6 I got a bit spoiled so it would be nice to have that 90+% screen-to-body ratio :) however if they do this edge sense thing good, put back the 3,5mm jack with some pritty good DAC in combination with that new technology for the earpiece stuff, and keep it cheaper than the GS8 they have good possibillities of having a solid phone(remember that it has smaller screens than the G6 and GS8 so it could work a bit faster and drain less battery)...still have to admit that I'm still dissapointed... with loosing the metal unibody and the front facing speakers...curretnly have M8 dual sim and after the update work buttery smooth, no errors, camera is actually quite nice...HTC bring back some of the M8 features to the flagship, keep the cameras you have on U ultra(I've heard they're good)....in design department HTC PLEASE, I beg you, put that fingerprint sensor on the back like the x10, put 4000mAh battery inside, don't go away from metal unibody that was superb, birng back the front facing speakers and improve that screen-to-body ratio to at least 87%...also with the return of the nokia to the market I have to admit I'd like to have one of their flagships when they come out...they've made axcellent job with the Nokia 6 and I'd like to have that phone..HTC learn from Nokia how to build a durable phone and you'll win over the market..they have alot of potential but I'm disappointed that they're not using it to its outmost

Those pics totally part ways with what was a non-button phone and a pressure-sensitive frame in previous leaks, so now we're having a pressure-sensitive frame on one side-only instead ?

Top bezel is fine. They should have made some improvements for bottom one too. Htc comes out with half baked approaches and then prices their phone among top flagships. I hope it will have atleast ip68 otherwise this is just another decent phone that just doesnt stand out and not worthy of a price tag.

Common HTC...it is way past time to try and shed the HUGE BEZELS and MEAGER BATTERY stigma. I think 2017 is the time to do it or will it be 2018..fans patience running thin.
One trend i will like to see them keep, is use of screens with 16:9AR but must shrink the bezels to about 80-85% stb ratio. They should stay away from the use of screens with 18:9AR.

It looks kinda like Xiaomi Mi Note 2 but uglier.
