I use my Nokia C5 to do the following:

Make video calls
Send SMS
Chat on an IM network (Skype, MSN, GTalk, WhatsApp, etc.)
Take photos
Shoot videos
Use special shooting modes (Panorama, Time-lapse, etc.)
Listen to music
Watch movies
Watch online videos (YouTube, etc.)
Enjoy mobile games

        It would be useful a question on how extensive is the phone usage, meaning how much time do you browse per day, how many call minutes, sms, GPS navigation. This could be related to battery life, as phone manufacturers are falling behind on this. A smartphone today, used intensively, only lasts about half a day, which seems to me not enough.

                      I swear the cell phones have overtaken over many other gadgets and are really into our lives.

                        1. Good battery backup (atleast 200 hrs standby & more than 5 hrs talktime)

                        2. Display & body should be scratch resistant (by default)

                        3. Screen view under sunlight should be good enough.

                        4. all phones should have micro usb port by default for data transfer as well as charging as we are still not getting it in INDIA from Nokia & Samsung.

                            Voice and video calling, SMS, mobile internet, internet on PC, social networks, IM, listening music, FM and internet radio, watching online videos, taking pictures and videos, calendar entries, transferring files over bluetooth, using dictionaries..etc.

                              battery performance is a pain in the ass, particularly in androids (i use one). following are the things i use my phone for on daily basis:
                              music
                              web
                              video streaming (youtube)
                              social networks (facebook ans twitter),
                              maps
                              im (gtalk, facebook)
                              fm radio,
                              video calls (skype & gtalk),
                              notes (synced with cloud),
                              google goggles,
                              as an alarm clock,
                              and call & sms ofcourse,

                                        Thanks for that great project. I daily use mine as a pocket dictionary for help in a foreign country with foreign language, among many other things you mentioned!
