iPhone 8 allegedly runs Geekbench, destroys the competition

25 April 2017
Past iPhones, Samsung's newly released Galaxy S8 duo - none even come close to the results obtained by the next iPhone's chipset.

I wonder why Qualcomm, Samsung, & Co haven't been able to offer any single-core competition with the A-series CPUs from Apple.

im an android fan, but if that's true... DAMN! "you've been owned!" but i would still prefer android due to it's versatility

This is probably fake as I have searched the Geekbench scores and so far found nothing. Along with that, there appears to be no link to the results on the original post, suggesting this is faked.
Though it would not be surprising if the actual scores were close to this as iPhones usually have a high score in Geekbench and perform very well. Also, iOS 11 is being rewritten for 64bit devices as the OS is currently 32bit. This change will surely bring performance improvements to the new iPhones.

When I bought it with iOS 9 it was really snappy, no delay at all when returning to the home screen. But after upgrading to iOS 10 the delay is noticable. Bigger the open app, longer the delay when returning to the home screen I have noticed.... And removing the headphone jack was just bad, sad to see HTC blindly following Apple....

DrearyDepp, 26 Apr 2017Say what you want about Apple, but you gotta give it to the... moreGeekbench is not easy to fool. It's mathematical functions. The only way to fool it is if you disable the battery saving mechanisms, but those are disabled anyway on iphones when they run something very intensive (the scheduler unease the whole power).

Also Geekbench has nothing to do with optimization. I've run Geekbench on 3 different platforms that run Exynos 5420 (Samsung Android, AOSP and Ubuntu linux) and they gave me the exact same result. That's because the CPU is not affected by thing like drivers, it always run the same. So of A11 was adapted to run android it would have the same Geekbench score.

Lastly android is more optimized. Don't buy the propaganda. IOS is merely cut down version of an OS and it still achieves only slightly better performance and battery on raw performance situations. That shows bad optimization given how far fewer services IOS runs. This is a persistent myth, ios is merely less, it's not more optimized. Makes sense too ,Google is a more skilled software company.

M no geek don't knw about Qualcomms or SD or cores. And how fast how snappier which phone is ,m a routine phn user I play no games just some internet some wtsapp some music n youtube(at times) and my phones are Samsung galaxys4 mini and iPhone 6 64gb .. and both these phones work so well (for me) even I have my old 5s , and it works so well ... this too much technology talk makes us believe that something else is better then what we own rite now.. and these companies leaves no stone unturned to make us brainwashed and give them our money without questioning.. do we need these many cores this processor this much ram etc etc.. a strange brainwashing competition is going on outside and inside our heads all the time .. thank god I don't understand all this technology and m happy with what devices I have and what processors are in my phone and in my head ha ha ha. Lol cheers guys enjoy life

Say what you want about Apple, but you gotta give it to them - iOS is THE most optimised mobile OS ever made. Even if this benchmark is fake, just take a look at the specs and benchmarks of the previous iPhones and you'll see that at the time of their launch, every latest iPhone was at the top of their league.
What makes me respect Apple is the fact that they manage to make these high performing phones with internals that are hardly awe-inspiring. The iPhone 7+ had a quad core chipset, only 2 of which took part in benchmarks, and yet it blew every other chipset out of the water in single core computing and was bested only by octa core chipsets in multi thread computing. Oh and it had a FHD resolution, just like the OnePlus 3/3T, so you can't blame the high scores on the resolution. Now no matter how powerful a chipset they make, I don't think raw chipset prowess is the only thing allowing the iPhone to achieve such high scores, so I'm making an educated guess here by assuming that the optimised iOS also plays a big role.
With all that being said, I still think iPhones are overpriced and I really detest Apple for setting stupid trends like eliminating headphone jacks. I just (futilely) hope that Google learns from Apple and optimises Android from the ground up, at least for their own Pixels, because as an Android user it's really sad to see that no matter how much I pay for my phone, it'll be outperformed by that year's iPhone.

Does the benchmark take into account screen resolution? Ie. Does it run much faster on a 720p on iPhone compared to Quad HD ? And what will the scores be if it runs on Quad HD?

Anonymous, 25 Apr 2017You're wrong plenty of cores are useful for android. That's... moreIPhone does all that even better with just dual core, again no any real benefit using more cores. Like i said so far no-one has been able to show in speed wise in real life where that earlier superior android multiscore would help android, yet we see every year how those Apple superior single cores humiliate android phones.
