It's white is now calibrated to yellowish white just like the yellowish white of the Samsung Galaxy SuperAMOLED because yellowish white is the most accurate white according to color experts. The blue tinged white of LCD screens is far from accurate white.

[deleted post]There is really no better smartphone out right now. For 750 dollars you are getting the best smartphone with the richest set of features, best display, latest processor, fastest RAM and UFS storage that even comes with expensive AKG earbuds which costs 100 dollars plus other accessories in the box. Some retailers/regions even offer VR headset/wireless charging pad as freebies. Seriously, this is the most worthy smartphone you can buy for 750 dollars. Google Pixel costs about as much but don't even have half of the features of the S8, let alone the expensive accessories/freebies.

If u dont wanna see red, or yellow tint on amoled, just dont compare your amoled screen side by side directly with other phone. You'll be fine and satisfy with your screen and used to it

The standard S8 costs $1200 flapping where I live and these morons are telling me "that's just the nature of the screen'?

What does "best white" even mean? A white can either be red tinged or yellow tinged or blue tinged. There is no such thing as best white in objective terms. Some AMOLEDs are just colder (blue tinged) or warmer (red / yellow tinged) than the others.

That's one why I really don't want AMOLED on iPhone.
After years of yellowish whites Galaxy phones, I switched to iPhone with 6 Plus model, after 6S Plus.

If you are not seeing red or yellow tint on white on your AMOLED display, then yours is calibrated to a cooler temperature. In other words, your AMOLED display has a blue tint instead of red or yellow. Not all AMOLEDs are made equal. Some have cooler or warmer displays than the other.

But at least Samsung got YEARS of a head start than any of these OEM newcomers when it comes to smartphone application of OLEDs. Accounting for the years of experience or expertise in OLED smartphone application, Samsung theoretically "should" have the upper hand (Who knows who could do it better than they do? Someone in another comment section just appraised Samsung for producing great hardware but slow-clapped for Samsung's poor optimization). Just as Samsung started pushing for the phablet era, Samsung spawning the market with OLEDs, even across their product ranges, is no different. Samsung got to "own" what they started and still continue to do those implementations till now. I am not saying OEMs such as Sony, LG, and others have not been using OLEDs for other product lines. For example, Sony's usage of OLED includes, but is not limited to, TVs and Viewfinders

Despite all of these issues, i think we could all agree that Samsung makes the best displays in the market right now (unless if 100% color accuracy is your thing)

AMOLED can't display "pure" white. They always vary. You are either getting a red tinged or yellow tinged or blue tinged whites on AMOLED displays. There's nothing you can do about it. Just like Samsung said, it's the nature of AMOLED. It has been like this for years now. This is so common that it should be a non-issue now. Even the OLED iPhone will have this exact same issue.
