That's because of a better soft... moreSo why did improved RAM management fix lagging issues with the 3T and why are mutliple other vendors now selling phones with 6 GB of RAM? Huawei are now shipping mid-range phones with more tthan 4GB. To be honest though, that is not the point really and for me at least, it is more about the lack of choice unless you live in certain markets. As others have commented it is tanatamount to discrimination. I, and I suspect many others, would happily pay slightly more for a higher RAM spec. and/or more storage. I prefer internal UFS storage to slower SD cards any day. Just give us a choice, what we do after that is our problem.

For those of you who have read my postings, You will know this exactly one of the reasons I didn't buy the Galaxy S8! In the UK /Europe for quite a few years we seem to have been shunned by Samsung!
First no OFFICIAL release of the Note 5 here.
Second the Galaxy Note 7 had a 6 GB variant released in China and nowhere else, Now 6 GB version S8 for people in Asia...
No doubt people will cite various reasons but the only reason Samsung has given so far is that it's due to local competition????
Which is a bit bizarre considering the amount of 6GB RAM phones coming onto the market now worldwide.
Start treating all your markets the same Samsung then I might buy one of your products again!

Hopefully for us customers, fans, etc. And for Samsung itself and it is even a must for them, to compete with all the Chinese great flagship killers, such as OnePlus, ZTE Axon, Xiaomi, Huawei and so on.To start making their flagships starting from the Note 8 onwards, with a 6GB RAM as standard (mostly), if not even with a 128GB as well, that will be a must within a few years. But for now at least, Samsung's flagships (S & Note) must be with a 64GB/6GB (obviously plus an SD card slot as well) as standard for the whole globe, and again, not starting from the next year's S9, but from the upcoming Note 8.

Seriously why cant they just release the same spec worldwide. Why does it always have to come down to the this region gets this spec that region gets thats spec. The regionalist approach that Samsung takes time and time again is one day going to come back and bite them on the ass.
I am pretty sure if they had released both the S8 and S8+ in variants of 4GB and 6GB they would still sell as many as then its up to the end customer if they wanted the 4 or 6GB variant.
Glad we put our faith in all these companies that have intelligent people at the helm with zero common sense.

It's a matter of intelligently dropping battery leaks. Most apps don't run a service or a daemon (which actually are what mostly kills the battery) so they are harmless when loaded on ram (instead of nand).

I highly doubt that there is any observable difference between the 4gb and 6gb model. Android isn't smart enough to handle so many apps on the background so without aggressive memory management you will burn your battery in a couple of hours. (hence the aggressive memory management on most android deveices)
