We are missing out one more f the best 3.5 inch smart phone and that is o2 xda, I used it as phone, gps navigation, MP3 and video player with camera. I would not count xda as pda because for me it was a true smart phone.

Anonymous, 07 May 2017I like how the xiaomi MI mix was mentioned. But shouldn't ... moreSame body as well from the sharp but oh well

Oh men... i loved my LG BL40 chocolate. It was laggy a bit, but for watching movies and listening music it was perfect...
I wish some OEM have balls to make such phones again. Now we have only copy/paste look, even new phones like S8 doesnt have anything special in his look. All phones are flat bars without soul: screen in front, and one or two holes in the back for camera/fingerprint reader...

O my god it's been 10 years since Nokia e90 was launched!!! Time literally flies.. I had 9500 communicator and later e90.. loved communicator series .. basically loved those Nokia days .. that charm of owning a new phone is totally gone now .. different designs new cameras , from those wider headphone jacks of n70 to 2.5mm of Nokia e63i and e71 , and later the 3.5 mm jack which used to look like a luxury those days ...

I like how the xiaomi MI mix was mentioned. But shouldn't Sharp get the credit for this? They were the first to implement this concept but didn't do so well.

Ahh, the Galaxy Note. I once had it as my first smartphone. At the time, my Note was always used by my family members for watching movies on the go because of its 'big' display. My friends keeps reminding me that I was using a TV as a phone (I think they're just jealous :p) The S-Pen was lots of fun to use and I constantly used it for navigating the phone and occasionally drew some sketches. After 4.5 years of 'abuse' with 4 battery replacement, one display and home button replacement, and one water damage repair, my Galaxy Note is still going strong as my backup phone. I just can't let it go.

AnonD-632062, 07 May 2017Wonderful article, brought back a lot of memories. Too b... moreExactly. I purchased the Z Ultra in late 2014 at 12490 INR which translated to around $195 back then and what a purchase it has been. I am still using this behemoth and it's slick and quick like ever. And it's one tough cookie surviving few falls with negligible cosmetic damage taken. I will get the true successor to it no matter the price (Note that all the "ultras" on sale today are not the farthest shadow of this monster).

If the post UK networks hadn't suddenly bought in their very dodgy idea of banning a ything with a 6 inch + screen and forced users to use very pricey 5x's as pricey!!!)mobile broadband Sims instead,I would still be using my old Samsung gtp 1000,I loved it,but refused to use mobile broadband.
Networks argument was that bigger screen meant more data use !!!
Even though I forced them in shop to do the maths of a big screen with a low pixel count versus a much smaller screen but with much higher pixel count screen, even with same modem, they would not back down in their ban of big screens using normal phone tariff Sims..
Here's pointing at you three and orange...
Idiot public who thought using a tablet as a phone had obviously never come across speaker phone with a decent Mic you didn't have to hold up to yer ear to hear and speak..by the time nexus 7 lte came out, networks had totally killed idea of realy big screened phones..
But of course three etc now all offer phones with 6+inch screens and nobody says a word about data amounts !!!

According to me, Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone 6/6S/7 have the best footprint because the size is such that One handed use is quite possible. Now rather making bigger sized phones, companies should focus on making phones of the same footprint but with a much larger screen, covering almost the entire body. S8 could have achieved it but it went for a too long display!

I had a Nokia 9110 years ago, it was a cool phone but when I got it, it was already so outdated. I just had it for fun, I also had a Nokia 9300 that same time, progress between these two phones was obviously noticeable.

Still waiting for a true phablet flagship from Sony
X Ultra is near, but will only have SD660, which isn't a bad SoC, but nowhere near the true power of the SD835 flagship.

Waiting for XZ Ultra with equivalent specs to XZ Premium but 21:9 ratio

I had a Sidekick LX and it was the biggest screen among my friends' phones at the time. The coolest too with the swivel thing.

Mi Mix does have a great design, looks fantastic and it's a pretty damn small phone after all. Only thing is that the hardware and durability aren't quite what I look from a phone. I remember that when I first saw a work-colleague using his new HTC Desire HD, it looked awfully big. Then I got to use it myself and it was so damn small, even though I was used to a 3.5" screen at that time. Now 5.9" feels small.
