Xiaomi left out the headphone jack on the Mi 6 for bigger battery

05 May 2017
Not having a headphone jack on this 5.1-inch display phone allowed them to increase the battery size over the Mi 5.

I'll never buy a phone without a 3.5 jack, so what's the point?, Xiomi looks like those monkeys of the zoo doing what all the others do, so the headphone jack for just 350 mamp, that's nonsense

Sir Wills , 05 May 2017I totally agree with you Sir! So let me get this right the ... moreI agree, the reason they used was BS but their goal was noble (it's always noble to kill legacy technology)

AnonD-514012, 05 May 2017Just make the DAMN phone 0.01 mm thicker for more battery.Noppe, the phone needs to be simplified. A universal port will never truly become universal I of people insist on putting legacy ports as well. Just kill 3.5mm already! The more abandon that ancient port the more USB c accessories we'll get for cheap, the cleaner the phones would be and easier to water proof, the more minimalistic the look...

Vic, 05 May 2017"Xiaomi left out the headphone jack on the Mi 6 for bigger ... moreI totally agree with you Sir! So let me get this right the Mi 6 has 3350mah battery how much room does that really take then as compared to the general use of 3000MAH by most manufacturers I don't see 350MAH size of battery taking up no more than 5mm if that?

It's a typical BS of a company that copies and follows other manufacturers and so Xiaomi I won't be purchasing your copycat sheep phone or any other phone that doesn't have a 3.5 jack.

Wrong choice, 05 May 2017This is ridiculous. We will give you bigger battery. BUT, w... morePlenty of adapters that allow you to use USB C both for charging and listening. What are you taking about? Just buy one, they're dirt cheap on eBay.

Equip all your device's end with a USB c adapter. They're dirt cheap (like $20 for 10 pieces). Never again having to bring adapter with you (just leave them on your sound devices at all times).

We have the universal port. Death to specialized ports!

...also it's useless. Just live the USB c adapter to your earplugs at all times and be done with it. No need for two ports now that we have the universal port (USB c that is).

Wise move from Xiaomi, I hope more will follow. It's about time that phones start simplifying again. The last great simplification was with the original iPhone that did away with the physical keyboard.

Ideally we'd remove all ports and buttons. Everything would be wireless, all on screen .... Ideally (I know lot will take many years, but the death of the ancient 3.5mm is very welcome move)

This is ridiculous. We will give you bigger battery. BUT, we will remove audio jack! :)))
                    3.5mm is necessary. Why?
-Someone who listens music from the phone and charges the phone at the same time (doing this almost every evening) will not get any benefit from any kind of adapter. 3.5mm is necessary.
-There are LOADS of 3.5mm adapter ear/headphones out there. When USB-C connector ones dominate the market, nobody will remember Mi series (I don't say here Mi 6 purposefully but instead say Mi, or even we can say Xiaomi brand name!)
-Have you seen any good quality Hi-Fi systems without cables? No, because there is none (except for music servers working on Wi-Fi but still connected to amplifiers through cables)
In short words, this is WRONG decision.
Actually I haven't seen any high quality audio output from any Xiaomi phones. Probably this is out of their target market.
Why there is no SIDE connected 3.5mm ports? It is better than none.
