I did NOT say benchmark has to be taken into account, and if it is I did NOT say it is a big aspect. I just said other things apart from speed will make the best overall device (build quality, screen, audio, battery etc etc) - before you moan, I am NOT saying Sony don't have this. And LOL, NONE of my messages say the Sony isn't good, in fact I like it (even though I don't have any immediate interest in buying a new phone)... Anyway, I get that you love Sony, but if you're gonna reply to a message then read it, don't make shit up that no one said...

AnonD-666681, 10 May 2017LOL, makes no difference to me what Sony is good or bad at,... moreLOL. You just tried to convince me that benchmarks do count in a phone's performance, that it must be a big aspect of the phone's overall assessment. You are shooting the phone because you're simply trying to say that this phone will not do good at all in reality, which isn't true at all, and what I was saying is that the XZs with inferior specs compared to the 3T can humiliate that so-called "flagship killer" of 2016. Regarding the replies:

            1. He just made several points so I obviously will cover each of them individually. If I ask you 2 different questions, will you just give me one answer? Obviously not, right?

            2. "I didn't say speed test wasn't relevant, but to some people (not me) benchmarks are important, just like speed test is important to others." That statement alone is an enough proof of how you're trying to make the phone look bad. You are just relying on benchmarks alone without even trying it on how it performs on daily routine. Not all benchmarks are accurate, and by the busting of Chinese OEMs (including OnePlus) to be cheating them is an enough supporting evidence to not settle for the benchmarks at all. You don't do it like; you buy a phone, then if someone asked you why you bought it, you will tell "BECAUSE THIS PHONE HAS THE HIGHEST BENCHMARK SCORES" or something. Why I'm saying that you must not believe in benchmark is because they don't truly test the state of time with individual devices. Scores are just for impression, and Samsung and every other else are very notorious to overclock their CPUs to perform well in benchmarks but return back to normal after the test.

            3. "Although it makes me wonder why you came to this discussion board to comment if you didn't care about benchmarks, lol."
I just explained why I don't care about benchmarks. Lol

It looks like those before me alluded to it but synthetic benchmarks are really only useful in comparing a device line in one OEM (in this case the Xperia line), to see generational improvement or difference. Comparing different OEMs devices really only accomplish "my numbers are bigger hurrrrhuurrrrr" when in reality the synthetic benchmarks don't really compare properly, as OEMs can tune and optimize for the benchmark algorithms, which wont help the user experience, but makes dem numbers mighty big. the algorithms may also, just not work well in some phones architecture, as the benchmarks can be optimized to run in specific architectures.

Overall, there's just too many variables to compare differing OEMs with synthetic benchmarks.

I didn't say they aren't important, just said to me :) it's useful to see them and how they compare between devices and generations, but, for me, it isn't necessarily a deciding factor when I am going to purchase a phone.

It is not much difference than Huawei, Oneplus, Apple, and Samsung recent flagships. Overhyped premium phone by sony. Not a flagship killer at all.

For me, a ram buffer inside camera module, battery-care charging technology, most ergonomically convenient placement fingerprint scanner, the most stable ui ever and most timely updates probably only next to pixels itself is true innovation and a screen spawning the entire body making the phone unergonomic and fragile is not. Honestly the previous point is what's all about the S8 and S8+.In future, if Sony does decide to compete with Samsung in the screen to body ratio race, they wouldn't have to worry about placing the fingerprint sensor in gawky places either. But I must say I would like sony to to really trim the bezels a bit and get its camera performance in low light spot on for it to become invincible. But I agree on your last point.

AnonD-72356, 10 May 2017Sony is good but it lacks in true innovation and unable to ... more"Sony is good but it lacks in true innovation and unable to provide the best mobile experience it used to provide in Sony Ericsson days."

If innovation for you are those funky useless curved edges and Bixby that does everything Google Now can do, then there must be a problem inside of you. If small bezels is an innovation for you, it'll be better if I take you to mental rehabilitation.
