Here's the Symbian Anna web browser, finally improved

14 April, 2011
A big part of the Symbian^3 Anna update that Nokia unveiled on Money was the new web browser that reportedly brings improvements in both performance and usability. And the company seems pretty eager...

[deleted post]Oh, boy! :rolleyes:

You have proven to us that you're clearly not interested in the Symbian OS. For someone who actually dislikes it, you are quite active here in Nokia related discussions. It would be nice if you could add something substantial and - for sure - topic related. Otherwise, why do you even bother spreading unrelated and mispresented (and false) information about a product that you clearly dispite so much?

People like you ruin the entire comment section at GSM Arena. Back in time, it was fun and informative to come here and read. These days, you find only people posting their biased opinion and hate. I don't mind so much if somebody doesn't like the same product I am interested in. However, not being able to accept the fact that other people don't share your same likes and dislikes is rather childish, especially if you can't present facts! And trying to preach Android in a Nokia related section is - clearly - spamming!

    wow quite a war going on when ever something other than andoid is mentioned why is that, aren't were all people who buy what we want, why behave like a bunch of pre- schoolers who don't get to nap on time. you love your os well wait for when there's some news on it and post there, don't make the other os's comment area a battle field.

        unless symbian has these features, i wont go back to nokia....

        1.Fast web browser that doesn't hang, supports flash, and view web pages completely as how it is in pc..

        2. A very progressive and entertaining app store.. (Ovi store..?? cmon, it doesnt even comes close to Android market or iOS' app sotre)

        3.good looking user interface filled with nice looking interactive widgets (not just rectangular boxes with some icons inside)

        4.true meaning of Multi tasking.. where you can toggle different functions at a time and of course No Hangs...(not just opening every app u have and seeing it dont hang)
        e.g. Playing a game while listening to music and at the same time downloading, installing 5 or more apps (with no worries in recieving my push emails)...

        5.Phone book contacts synchronized with All of my social network contacts.. imagine a contact containing saved numbers(default phone function), includes all of his info and profile in facebook and twitter accounts..so when u view that specific contact, not only "send sms/mms or call numbr" are the options, you can post on his/her wall, access his/her pictures, etc... everything in just one phone book..

        and only android says Y-e-S to all of these features...

          Anonymous, 15 Apr 2011Its not about Android being "cheap". Its about us... morehehehe I don't defend Symbian, for my point of view need a retirement, but Android has no point, isn't a Good OS either, I prefeer iOS over Android and Symbian, but I will wait for the new WM7 updates, for now...I will keep a low profile on easy to use OS tna a greedy one like Android...

          And you can't defend Android OS either, is here just beacuse the lag of a real OS around...As I said iOS is a great OS, too bad is Just for Apple devices, but, that's part of their greatness, I'll assume WM7 will do the same on Nokia phones...but only the time will descide who will won, but Android needs a lot of imprvement...Maybe Android OS 3 wil be something good, but for now Android 2.xx still inmature..

              You knew that iPhone is an expensive phone yet Apple reaping off huge profit, too.
              You're argument of the Android OS's being "cheap" is pointless.

                go nokia and symbian!!! the android trolls must be interested in nokia because of the repetitive negative comments which are getting old and annoying. also, they are jealous because android's update for its os is not as fast as nokia's symbian updates.

                Some would say symbian is dead! what a bad joke!!! symbian is very much alive because of nokia.

                    And if indeed it sucks...then why HTC's made a huge profit by mere Android OS.

                      @Bananna Joe
                      "Now Nokia don't need that, ther processors go from 325 Mhz, to 435 Mhz and 600 Mhz, they don't need dual cores or anything and their phones runs smootly.....Well, we need to fill Android greedy hungry needs after all..."

                      While I can understand your frustration with certain sentiments fact is;

                      People just won't pay 2011 PRICES for 2008 TECH.Take it or leave it.

                      It's naive to believe that Nokia is sticking to said clock speeds because they know their OS...They don't...Ask the disgruntled Symbian devs and they'll tell you that Nokia themselves avoided from fulfilling the base phone hardware reqs moving from S60 to beyond. You won't find the online docs anymore."Conveniently" now it's folded to closed source.Like it or not, it's just piss poor cost control drama and over the years even the most hardcore Nokia fans got screwed market price-wise when "alternative" and same classed phones were out.

                      It's not Android's nor the fanboys' fault. It's Nokia's own fault because they thought that their market position allows them to do what RIM has been doing with their Blackberries.Half assing products with past year tech, charge CURRENT prices AND bungling OWN OSes along the way.So of course there's no surprise there when now we have even cheaper incumbents like ZTE and Huawei scoring some points front and centre.Regardless if they're Androids.

                      And it's NOT ABOUT CPU on SoC clock speeds. It's about CPU "generation".A 600Mhz ARM Cortex A8 are literally a world of diff to ANY slightly higher clocked yet older ARM 11s.Why do you think Nokia went for that ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX530 combo for the N900?That's right. To let Maemo scale up better. How hard is it to simply use current smartphone SoCs and underclock when it's necessary for some models?

                      Oh and have you checked WP7's latest sys spec lately?Explain how's that a good thing for Nokia to follow then?

                        When android born, they ENSURE and they trie to make us think Android will run in any phone with slow specs....Just Like LINUX...

                        But they NEED MORE AND MORE HARDWARE to trie make this atrocity to run corretly...and guess what? They can't!!!

                        Every new version requires more and more hardware specs.....And I remember the time people crucify Windows Phone OS for beign greedy about specs, and Android is doing the same path.....like Linux.

                        Now Nokia don't need that, ther processors go from 325 Mhz, to 435 Mhz and 600 Mhz, they don't need dual cores or anything and their phones runs smootly.....Well, we need to fill Android greedy hungry needs after all...

                          I can stand on the side of a company that DON'T GIVE SUPPORT TO USERS...

                          Google just SUCKS BIG TIME in support, and is very frustaiting trie to solve their problems....the Source Code of Android STILL in BETA, and their are using us as Lab Ratos to test something that is plagued of errors...

                                  Since Nokia announced its partnership with Microsoft I have found various new and beta software offerings from Nokia on Symbian that point to Symbian offering a real challenge to iOS and Android. For example, Swype, the Sleeping Screens screensaver, the 3D photo browser and the new Ovi Maps. These new apps give a fun user experience which is what users love in iOS and Android. It is not the same fun user experience but it is one that challenges iOS and Android. It offers hope that if you want the best imaging phone (i.e. the N8) you will not have to compromise useability. Plus the S^3 devices have massively improved touch responsiveness (which was brought home to me with a thud today when I dusted off my SE Vivaz which is an S60r5 device and the responsiveness, well, it is not). So, this new browser in Anna shows Nokia is moving towards having an S^3 which is really competitive. This is great but tinged with sadness because I cannot help fearing that Nokia's development efforts are going to split so that S^3 never reaches its full potential and WP7 on Nokia does not improve fast enought to stay competitive. Many people have turned away from Nokia in the last year or so (e.g. Symbian-guru.com) because of disappointment with Nokia's failure to keep up with the other platforms (especially disappointment with the N97). It is a shame because I believe Nokia has always had the best hardware (most individual designs and greatest variety) and is now really hitting its stride on the software front with S^3.

Just enjoy using your toys, and we will enjoy what we have. And my God, you are still telling us this immature video from youtube.

                                    The great news here, about Nokia is, they are still giving support and updates to Symbian even if they are going now to Windows Phone OS.

                                    For me, even if they are going to change their OS, I will still use Nokia, see this one, http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/13/this-is-windows-phone-next-developers-take-notes-video/ I am excited on what's going to be with Nokia Windows Phones.
