No need for more than 5MP, improve sensors, lenses instead.

I think by this stage, I would prefer coming soon 2012 Nokia W8 packed with N8's camera.
When both HTC and Nokia has the same Windows OS, I would prefer Nokia that will come with more secured quality and reliability + Ovi Maps + audio quality.

Starting a cameraphone revolution you say!!
Is this supposed to be a joke or what?!
The N8 sitting there is a whole new category of cameraphones able of delivering a high-end compact camera quality stills with that huge sensor Nokia managed to squeeze in, excellent optics, mechanical shutter, and months of hard work to achieve one excellent driver, and that's not a revolution? And that's not to mention the smart zooming and excellent HD video quality as well..
But you rather think HTC with their worst hardware component quality on the market including those poor camera modules will start a revolution!
Come on GSMArena, you know better. You know this MP race is nothing a publicity stunt. Stay honest, objective, and stop falling down the hill with this new low attitude!!

I don't really think this will stick, i believe it's just sensors not the actual camera itself and even if it is the actual camera most likely it will be official at either 8mp or maybe 12.1 but with 16mp sensors. But not the actual camera lens itself! I think Apple is already contemplating the Sony lens but 8mp they may also use the Sony 16mp camera sensor in the iphone5 this year....we shall see.

This is just stupid. The only company that makes worse cameras than HTC is ZTE. They should worry about making kameras that take good pictures and can handle low light enviroments before they cram in more megapixels. HTC seems to be all about apperance as of late. To them it doesn't mather if it performs like crap, long as it looks good on paper.

HTC cameras usually suck hard. Look at the Mozart.
The N8 will still be king of the camera phones for a long time to come.
16mp. Ridiculous.

Now htc thinks this is something great thay have done to mobile photography. With a history of terrible, low quality htc 5meg camera phones this won't appeal to anyone. Htc first produce a good 5meg phone no point in pumping MP on phone cameras. If you need any tips approach Damian dinning or hire him.

Chinese phone companies like Docomo for example have long been offering 14 and 16 megapixel cameras in their phones. But as we all should know, MP alone as a factor does NOT determine quality, just print size... Whatever, the high number (16) should woo some potential buyers and trap them in HTC's ecosystem if they have any.
