      One per eye, right?
In that case, VR is starting to get interesting. More than Full HD per eye, would mean potential proper BluRay and BluRay 3D support.

For those wondering, VR headsets uses optics in front of the screen and the screens are are really close to the eyes, so there is need for a higher pixel density compared to smartphones and computers.

Still I would like to see 4K for each eye. I don't know if that pixel density is needed, but it would offer full support for UltraHD BluRay.
And perhaps even more important, it is evenly devidable with both Full HD and HD (720p), because of that scaling is much better compared to scaling HD to full HD or Full HD to QHD.

I was just thinking, doesn't the Xperia XZ Premium with it's 800+ ppi make for a (theoretically) excellent VR display?

Yaaay! A super high definition VR headset one can only use with a GeForce GTX 1080Ti! And I don't have the 7000$ required and I'm likely to never spend that much for it!

                  Goodbye vive and rift!

That some development, seriously i don't know why people bash VR (other than some company with huge fan opting for AR and bash VR)
Yes, it seem pricey and worthless now, but in 2 years or so, VR will be the norm and the same people who bash it are gonna praise it

Personally, I'm more interested in the inside-out positional tracking development, so we can finally have cable-free vr experiences

Interesting news, welcome. Good job to Samsung. And yeah it would be interesting as well to see if Samsung will keep it for its own VR (to beat the competition), or it will sell it to the same competitors ? (But to make a faster profit). Let's see.

Finally a VR screen I want in my VR headset. Hopefully HTC Vive will be updated with this or similar display before 2020...

Well all techs come out, expensive. After years they drop and they gain a lot of knowledge and they get better to the point they are amazing and we all have them. Why do people slate products in their early stages... They're obviously not good enough and can't be...

Really Samsung? Even the best screen display XZ Premium is slightly lower than that resolution. I guess this is aimed for people who used desktops to play vr

Same as with smart watches. This technology needs 5-10 years to be priced affordably and be compact like today's smartphones. I love vr, but qhd just doesn't cut it.

Ok, great, Samsung, now we have a VR headset with 4.4MP and 90Hz refresh rate, all sharp and nice...but can something except some crazy $$$$$ setups power so many pixels at a stable 90fps in a VR game? VR is still an enthusiast thing considering how expensive and unstable it is.
