patchez, 20 Apr 2011is it because it's focused on the green androidIt is not because of the geen android!!!
It's a human evolution thing. There are much more cone cells in our retinas sensitive to the greens than cells sensitive to reds. Blue sensitive cone cells are also in a great number but green is more important generally.
So making screens and sensors for cameras with green-dominant layouts will produce nicer pictures to us, humans (I don't know about other color perceiving species) and it is also more efficient.
Check out the PenTile matrix family's RGBG layout on Google/Wikipedia.
Back to the topic: this is a really nice and interesting test indeed. You guys at GSMArena should get one of those industrial microscopes as well :D

Andro, 20 Apr 2011love this feature.. more great stuff from gsmarenaI thought "normal" scopes can easily do 100sX or more? Even the cheap stuff? What's an "industrial microscope"?

With those samples, it shows that LG's screen is the most balanced of all. Nice brightness, sharp colors and great resolution as well. But, I think samoled's take a small hit out of this as you sample only the android market icon which only shows how many colors? Two? Not even a black and white sample to compare with. I'm not blaming gsmarena or even the host of the said flash program. Just stating the obvious.

Where's the Nokia N8? I would like to see the purple screen defect of the N8 under a microscope.

Seeing as nobodys eyes view a phone screen to such a zoomed in level this is all pretty irrelevant. Most people view a phone screen from a distance of about 12 inch or further. Iphone 4 fans of course view it from about 1mm to prove their resolution is better

It's interesting that on the Samsung's Super AMOLED screen that the pixels are of different sizes and there appear to be more green pixels than red or blue.
