Mailman, 06 Jun 2017News isn't stupid but your comment is. It only shows that... moreHow is my comment stupid, when midrange phones and low end budget phones get either Android 5 or 6 and will never be updated official to 7 or next 8.

Even my Asus Nexus 7 2013 don't get Android 7, but in specs wise it should still be okay for 7 and even 8.

I don't see the point to buy new phone just cause I need to have the most newest OS version. I will buy new phone when my old phone is so broken that I cant use it anymore but not cause it don't have newest version of OS. And I don't think I am alone with thinking like this.

Was marshmallow more popular then Nougat in the same time like Nougat is right now ? For the length of time that Nougat have been out.

Hopefully Project Treble will make the Android update situation less worse. It's ridiculous that even flagship phones get only 2 or 3 years.

Google should be updating OS every 2 years , since newest OS haven't get to every one , also need to work with manufacture so the phones could be updating faster .

This just shows how people are generally not well off enough to buy expensive phones. Seeing as how even the S6 has nougat now as do other 2015 devices, this means that less than 10% of people have a device from 2015 or newer.

The title should have been the 'most available', not the 'most popular' Android os. These r 2 different things. Unsupported firmware updates & phone hardware capabilities were two of d several reasons y marshmallow is d most populated os version. Who doesn't want a nougat? :D

It only shows that Google don't care about what people are using. Google needs to work more with companies and need to help them upgrade.
Even flagship getting updates so late and usually after 2 years not getting any update from google.
And there's no point to update OS every year for google if those updates getting really minor changes.
Nougat will not reach even 20% and Google will be out with version 9.0

Google should release Android updates once in 2 years as these days, software updates are more incremental than anything else. It has reached a saturation point and while Android has matured as a smartphone OS, it has become too boring and there's hardly anything groundbreaking left to add. We should have desktop class OS or Dual Booting system in all the phones. Come on, it's 2017..

piku, 06 Jun 2017Kitkat is best android version released by google till date... moreWell i also think its almost time for an OS UI redesign but you can't say kitkat is the best as there are also bew versions wich made a lor of under-the-hood and non-ui improvements....and i have a kitkat tablet and i also use lollipop so i understand what it feels like the animations in lollipop and up are slowing down the phone but you can turn them off or speed them up in the developpers settings...
