AnonD-659932, 24 Jun 2017lol LG is still relevant? With all the massive reliability ... moreReally? Bashing Hyundai? What do YOU drive? Car OR phone? Don't tell me, let me guess; BMW [or Mercedes] or maybe Lexus? iPhone[y]? Look, just cuz you paid too much for your stuff doesn't make IT better, doesn't make YOU better, just makes you appear to have more money than sense. . .

Someone here said that wireless charging is "soo, slow" nonsense. I've got a Qi charger on my nightstand that I've had and used with my last three phones, latest an S7 Edge. It's not as fast as direct wired "fast charge" be it's certainly not "slow" Mine charges the phone, using the charger and cable the S7 came with, from darn near dead to almost full in less than an hour.

And who cares about wireless charging? It doesn't offer any usefulness.
Water resistance is another nonsense. The vast majority of people never expose their phones to water.
You are joking, right? Glass is the worst material for phones. It's fragile, harder and more expensive to repair, etc. Plastic and metal are the most durable.

All phones with unibody design are garbage.

LG's 'V - series' (2 so far) ....is a Multimedia / Content Creating Champion. Any feature or hardware changes should only strengthen these 2 key aspects of the line....whatever those changes may be. As for glass, beauty, water resistance or even wireless charging ....they are useless if the performance of these 2 key aspects are flawed or compromised. Now.. in my opinion and in dealing with DSLR cameras and video cameras, battery swapping is a necessity and should be a standard for the V-line if 'Content Creating' is to remain a (focal) strength of the series.

Want wireless charge - swap the back panel. Or you could have pins on the back of the phone for dock charging. I, for one, have wireless charging option but believe wireless charger itself is just too expensive, using cable instead.

What I hate on non-removable battery is that when your phone gets lag and you need to hard reset, we're used to just remove the battery and open it up again. Unlike today you had various button patterns just to hard reset. Plus if there is a hardware malfunction inside your phone like what happen to me (charging pin on my s7) you need to be forced to shatter your LCD just to get it fix and it will cost me 200 dollars just to fix it.

Anonymous, 26 Jun 2017Glass back and wireless charging are useless and nonsense.@anonymous: "Glass back and wireless charging are useless and nonsense"

My wife and I have used Qi wireless charging on two different phones (4 phones total) every day since 2013. I have friends who use Qi wireless charging and love it. You can't have Qi wireless charging with metal back -- unless you do a "mod" like Moto (which I hate). Needs to be built in.

In 2017, manufacturers now need IP68 dust/water resistance. It's now becoming standard to top tier phones, and the V-series is definitely top tier -- positioned even higher than the G-series, according to LG. LG said V was for "mainstream", and V is for spec fiends. Which material on the back will give you that? Plastic may flex and allow gaps. Only glass (Gorilla Glass, hopefully) or ceramic works.

Besides 95% of people use bumper cases, even with all metal construction, to keep their phones from being dinged/scratched. I use a clear case, but still use one.

Uhm, no. LG has said the V series is positioned even above the G series for spec fanatics. So, adding Qi wireless charging for ALL markets (not just regional variants, like the G6 did) makes sense. As well as quad DAC, etc.

For Qi wireless, you can't have metal. PERIOD. So, what do you want instead? Glass, ceramic, plastic, kevlar (my current phone). Also, in 2017 you now need IP68 dust/water resistance. Which material on the back will give you that? Plastic may flex and allow gaps.

My 64gb Samsung microSD inside my LG V20 got corrupted for no apparent reason this morning. Happened to my 32gb SanDisk as well a few years back. I will stick to PNY for now on and go 200gb.

For people laughing at LG products, I will laugh back at the same people buying junk from Samsung and Apple. All the LG products I ever owned including a nearly decade old portable air condition works fine.

                            LG > Samsung

                            I hate Samsung.

All the top tier manufacturers now have that, and LG can't afford to not compete with that feature. It's becoming standard.

At least they are keeping the headset jack like Samsung. Motorola is even bringing the headset jack back, so good for them. The ones who claim they have to remove the headset jack for dust/water resistance (Apple, Xiaomi) just have incompetent engineers.

Sure, unlike metal it's radio-friendly, but I'd take a metal back with antenna lines or good quality plastic over glass any day as neither of them will shatter like glass unless the phone is literally run over by a tank."

No, doesn't need to be glass to have Qi wireless charging. But can't be metal. I have Kevlar overlaid with Ballistic Nylon (Moto XT1225) on my current phone. (It will stop a bullet for me in a bad neighborhood.)

For wireless charging, can be glass, ceramic, plastic -- or kevlar. It's just Gorilla Glass or equivalent is considered about the only "premium" material people will accept besides metal. And most people do buy bumper cases so their phones won't be scratched up (even the all-metal ones), so I'm not sure why people complain about different materials being used in construction. I use a clear bumper case, but I still use one.

You haven't done the research. Not a fad. Qi wireless has been around for Androids since 2012. LG has added it back, Samsung never dropped it. Ikea has long made FURNITURE that has built in wireless chargers. Apple is finally addiging it because they are laggards. Same reason they are finally adding 1440p AMOLED YEARS after top tier Androids had it.

It's CONVENIENT, not about speed. You drop the phone onto tilt charger, no need to plug/unplug/plug/unplug. You can see notifications. Quickly pick up phone and walk away.

You can always plug in IF you wish. It's not either/or. You can have BOTH. That's what I don't understand about Wireless charging critics. Wireless charging capability doesn't take anything away from you. If you don't like it, don't use it.
