Do you know all the generic phones have been using the same feature in them. I've seen in Nokia, Samsung and Motorola phones, that in your location list, you'll get the list of CELL-NAME where you have been visiting. This data seems redundant and of no use, unless you are a billionaire and there are tens of MAFIA after you !!!

lets please leave the conspiracy theories out of this for once. unless somebody comes up to me and tells me he woke up at an undisclosed warehouse surrounded by guys in black suits with badges written Google Bureau of Investigations and started questioning him why he went to the gym instead of shopping on amazon i think it's all nonsense and people trying to feel more important than they really are. no offense meant to anyone.

I don't see how the tracking of location by Apple iOS and Google Android are similar, simply because:
Apple: tracks you WITHOUT you knowing it
Google: tracks you after you have given CONSENT to it

If Google or another OS asks you that if you want to be tracked or not and you answer "NO" do you think it's OK...shure, if they want they can enable it easily...Don't be a child, we are in 21 century...everything is possible...
if you are a good person it's not a problem...they can track you as much as they want...no prob...
BUT... yes there is a but...
If you are the right person and if the data gets in the "right" wrong hands, your tracking file can be manipulated as they want and one day you can be in very deep sh%$...That's the problem...
Do not tell or think 'it will never happen to me', everybody thinks that way and it happens to one person one day...
I believe Google or IOS made it for their own reasons with a good thinking...
Remember after they crack the DNA code some companies before they hire the person checking their DNA codes....
Tis is not a stupid sherlock holmes story...may be the tracking system is primitive now but sooner or later it will be a serious system...
What can we do...I don't know....just when you want to play dirty and cheat your wife or husband leave your phone at home..hehehehe....

'Gps' is a phone tracker in almost all smart phones which means that they are all tracked, but no one complained.
Either there are opportinists trying to frustrate Apple and Android for their success; or people are using products they are not aware of. Even every laptop is tracked upon connection to the internet.

Im sorry guys but seriously whats everyone clapping on about? if companys are using location based apps and services you are already aware that it has to track your position and send it back to a server -im sorry but this is not a breach of your privacy and to be fair i cant see what the problem is unless your james bond your location cant be that important and if your banging the secratary instead of your wife she still cant find out unless shes a computer genius.... so relax its not all that bad these apps are great and improve your day to day life and a little incripted location information is a little price to pay for these services.

i dont see what is the problem with this thing. before asking any questions, ask yourself are you worth that much that you may need to be tracked? if not, dont bother. And if you are, then it doesnt matter if its google or apple, you will be tracked anyways by more accurate equipments.nyways, i bet those guys who made a lawsuit, did it just to try if they end up getting a few bucks out of this.

some people are so full of it. complaining complaining complaining. most of you have absolutely nothing worth hiding in your lives and yet you make it sound like you're james bond or something and this information will make it easier for Dr. No to find you. Please, get real. if google wants to know that i went to the mall and stayed there for 3 hours or went to the cinema and a pub after, they're more than welcome, i don't imagine someone sitting in an office at google going, "AHA, we got him sir, he just came out of the toilet at Steers." PLEASE.

personally i don't really care much for the monitoring. i just dont imagine someone at Google sitting glued to their computer screens watching my every move, when i use my google maps program and when i download/uninstall camera360. if you don't want them to collect the data refuse permission, it's not like they are denying that such a thing exists. i think these people are just looking to make a quick buck if anything. so what if google know that i've been to the mall areas today, i'm not a terrorist, i'm not a spy or a member of any organization that requires utmost privacy. if a were wouldnt be using an unsecured phone to begin with. but hey, that's just me.

this information that they use to track your phone is the same technology that, when you lose your phone your network find it, but you would all be complaining when the insurance you get with your phone cant find it....

Google asks you before activating this service. There are services that track your location via your pc IP or your phone calls and nobody complains and now when they ask you if you want to share your location everybody freaks out. w t f people?

and that's why is till and always will trust nokia cause actually care ...until elop came along to get rid of foreign software for AMERICAN garbage that will end up resulting in the same issue as google and apple after they bring out a WP7 phone ....... >.>

I remember android asking if you would like to turn the feature on, and it also states that it will send it to google's servers anonymously.
