My Car has a GPS Nav system in it, dose that mean I get to sue Nissan. This is stupid in all honesty. Oh no my smart phone is recording information for my location-based apps that I've downloaded. Unless there is cold hard facts that both Google and Apple doing something with this information, there is no foul in my book. I really don't think any harm has been done. It's just dumb

It seems to be part of your culture. I know what it feels like to be on the end of one of their lawsuits as I lost a job years ago when some Amercian company tried to sue the company I worked for. In the end it cost them so much to defend it they closed the doors a few months later. There are far more important things in life than to worry about being tracked.! I am sure you would be happy if your kid or family member etc went missing and the tracking information lead you to finding them. Think about that before you run off and shout foul?????

If I'm not mistaken, android did give a warning before the user really confirm to turn on the tracking feature. So the problem always goes back to the user who doesn't read the manual before use the phone, or doesn't take initiative to learn & understand the gadget.
Since they are doing so...why don't those people sue the car manufacturer when they met car accident although it was caused by their reckless driving?

This tracking technology could saves your live too, like when you are lost in the wood, or maybe to track "suspicious person"

For these services to know where they need to "be" they need to know how many potential users are in a given area, they don't need to know who these potential customers are.
The loss of privacy issue will depend on what info is collected, how it is collected, how it is kept.
I am waiting to see when Nokia will be thrown to the fire too.

you know that lil icon on your home screen on any HTC device or any android device that shows your current location, date, time, and weather. well we now know how that is produced

its not a breach of privacy, when you start up an android based device for the first time during the setup it asks you for permission to have you location data tracked. you can freely accept or decline. it sounds like to me that there are many negligent users out there that simply over-looked this step. if you don't want them to track you just turn it off in the location& security section of settings. its as simply as that.

LOL why do people get so mad about these things.
You all knew about this when they offered services to find your phone if lost, and when facebook and twitter want to locate you. Apple and Android allow these traces to happen but the user has to allow it first. People that are truely pissed should sell their smartphones and go back to a basic cell phone minus all data packages.
Wait ... that wont happen cuz that ain't the american way. What would they complain about if they used their heads? Someone should sue Apple cuz the white iphone is thicker than the black one and thats somehow racist. I think $100 million is a good starting point for emotional distress. Ridiculous. Hold on ... do you think GSMArena is tracking this posting?

Well nothing is ever really safe these days, unrelated to phones, look what happen to the playstation network, they handled sensitive information like credit and pay pal info and they were hacked and that info "might" have been tampered with, if that could happen on a protected server by a billion dollar company, what chance does a consumer have? the question isn't is it possible, its really, why would someone go through that trouble?

what's the point anyway for me not to want sending my location data to google ?? as if i am a mafia member or something. (of course not facebook mafia if u know wat i mean coz im a very big boss in that lol)
to me, i see bunch of guys don't kno wat to talk about and others don't konw wat to read about.
by the way galaxy s rox. i hope mr. samsungs daughter would find my path selection as very sexy that she would love to share it with me.
