Anonymous, 08 Jul 2017I still have my Xperia Ray running under 4.0.4.As do I.
Admittedly though it's been relegated to home automaton now. My daily driver is an Xperia Z3 Compact which runs Marshmallow because Google and Qualcomm didn't see eye to eye on the Snapdragon 801 / OpenGL ES 3.1 requirement issue.

The Strange world of Android, generally on Windows I am always getting updates irrespective of hardware. I know I can not complain about updates for 100$ phone but still, there must be some way Google can avoid this fragmentation. I know Android O will have it partially solved but it is too late to resolve the issue. Billions and billions are phones are stuck on the old version and upgrading the Hardware is the last option.

I'm using Sony xperia ray which is on 4.0.4 ICS and my wife is using Lenovo a806 which is on 4.4 KitKat.. Updates are overrated.. As long as the phone works and serves my needs there is no need for an update.. LOL

"Marshmallow, launched in 2015, reigns supreme now, towering over other variants with 31.8% of the market. Not far behind is Lollipop with 30.1%." Woah, Nougat doesn't stand a chance at reaching those numbers, I think people are finally getting comfortable with the Android OS they most like or are stuck with especially since the differences are negligible lol

I have a perfect mid-low range phone of 8k ₹, that i intend to keep for 4 years, no matter what comes in market. These mfg just have the habit of bringing new phones with more memory/dpi/screen length/camera which is useless when you are getting old and eyesight requires bigger font. All look the same. I dont even require your never-coming upgrade. The only thing i look at in a phone now a days is sturdy build like nokia 3310-2001.

I'm still running KitKat. Remember when Sony refreshed their entire smartphone line, and some phones were left hanging without an update? Yeah, that's my situation.

On many audiophile phones the soundquality went downhill starting with android 5, then even more with 6 so everyone with root option just flashed back to stock, since the difference is huge. Android has literary the worst platform support for audio. Considereing doing the same on my vibe x3 if the new patch doesn't fix it

We're made to believe that newer iterations of Android is kinder on hardware and so you'd assume newer entry level and mid-range phones would come with the latest version. Nein! Some still come with Lollipop and Marshmallow.

Its sad how android adaptation rates are still that slow. we are in 2017 for gods sake why is still lollipop ahead of nougat while android 8.0 is just around the corner?
sad part is that its not just due to the high number of old phones. filter the list for any phone made in 2016 and later and nougat still wouldn't be even 2nd in the list... im an android user my self but I gotta give it to apple in this one
