Gsmarena has been posting/linking S8 deals on a very consistent basis since its release.

The only purpose is to make the phone look better with no visible bezels on the sides at the cost of losing screen estates on the edges, having reflection on the edges, and sometimes failed palm rejection. Of course, being more fragile and more expensive to repair are part of the reasons to dislike this variation of curved screens.

AnonD-598579, 11 Jul 2017This is not a hating comment, I just want to understand the... moreI like the XZ premium and U11, but they're out of my price range, the S8+ would be more appropriate for me than the bog standard S8, but out of my price range again and TBQH I don't think that the S8 is a particularly good looking product anyway, nor is the XZ.

I'm looking for is a good camera and decent features, aesthetics come 2nd, bar the fingerprint sensor which has to be in a good position.

Note8, period! You will never ever find anyone who dislikes the Note. Most people I know who had the Note 1 (myself included) keep buying them. I had two Note 4s (sold one to buy the 7, then something happened, so bought another 4!) Now have a 5, which is the most fantastic phone I have owned other than the Nokia N95 8GB Black. (I did have an S7 for a short while and it was also superb from a speed all else angle, but wanted an S-Pen.)

As others have said, the Note series use Samsung's best components, better than the regular S series. I really cannot fault my 5 other than the battery life, but I keep it on a wireless dock all the time so it's always topped up and carry an Anker battery pack in my bag for trips away from power.

I am saddened that from the leaks, the Note8 has that silly horizontal camera and biosensor arrangement, pity they don't copy LG. Oh well, will prob use eye scan anyway.

S5 Owner - I'm ready to upgrade, and I really want to stick with Samsung. While I'm ok (sort of) that removable battery is gone, and I wish they didn't take away the IR blaster... I can't get past the curved screen, which is supposed to be it's greatest selling point. IMO, it's gimmicky to me - why sacrifice drop strength for a visual claim? The S8 Active is my last chance before I have to move on...

Android phone resell price drops so fast and it drops lot, waiting extra 8 months will get your resell value propably the level which you thought you saved when waiting 8 months.

I still didnt buy the s8.. first because,. i know the price will drop around 200 dollars in the next few months.. however this is a minor reason.. the other important reason is.. i have a 7 month old s7 edge with me.. which I bought after around 250 $ price drop from the launch price.. so this device that I have with me is still a beast.. and I will sell it after few months, when the price of s8 will drop.. this way a cycle is maintained.. This way I also avoid, many hassles.. early buyers go through.. like software instability, low number of accessories,.. hardware problems.. we all know, what happened to Note 7.. also bengate issues in iphone 6 series.. antenna gate in iphone 4.. color issue in iphone 5.. galaxy s6 battery drain issue .. All this counts.. so before judging others, shouldn't you judge your level of reasoning first?

It's just another slab of fragile glass. Phones are crap nowadays, sacrificing everything useful for so-called premium design for a premium price. And people keep paying for it, more and more. And that's what made this an irreversible trend. Galaxy S9 will cost €1100 for the same slab of glass. S10 will go for €1200 and so on.

Thats no surprise only Samsung's number showed it to be a success.

Actual analysts expect it to sell less than S7 and possibly than S6 (the worst selling S phone of the modern era)!

It's no wonder too, the worst real life performance this generation by far (among flagships), less battery than last year, less wide screen in portrait mode, possibly worse performance (worse ram management than S7) and camera was not really that much better.

It was a disaster from start to end, no sales are finally showing that. I remebner with S4 it was backordered for weeks, with S8 you can find it in stock anywhere you look... Of course why would you bnuy it, that's another story.

I think they should learn from this mistake and Samsung should return their phone division to where it was.

Incidentally the Note 8 would most possibly take a plunge. Like Note 7 or Note 5 is not expected to have anything more compared to S series...

The Note 8, should it be called that, will most probably just be the S8 Plus with a stylus and such a small difference in screen size as to be inisgnificant. There is also a fair chance the battery capacity will be smaller given the physical size needs to hold the S-Pen in a phone of almost identical physical size based on the rumours thus far.
