This is a marketing strategy by Samsung for the note 8. Realising note 7 (FE) to the upcoming note 8 is not logical.

All others with 4000+ mAh sadly only have low-end crap as hardware - which is ludicrously absurd, as low-end hardware is the last thing to actually need a big capacity.
The most Samsung has is 3600 mAh, in the S7 edge. S8 only has tiny 3000 mAh, and S8+ still only has 3500 mAh.
I went from a S7 edge to a Mate 9, and even though it's only 400 mAh more on the paper, it lasts me a *huge* deal longer.
Before the S7 edge, I had a Sony Xperia 3+ w/ 2930 mAh. That would be 700 mAh more on the paper for the s7 edge, but it hardly lasted much more.

And it depends on how opti... moreI use over 5000mAh equivalent everyday, with about 1.5 GB LTE, and 1.5 GB wifi data, 7 hours SOT on a 17-hour stretch. This is with two Bluetooth accessories connected, data always on - what's the point of having a smartphone if you turn off those things?
If lower-ended smartphone get bigger batteries, 5000mAh should be standard for flagships. It's just silly to be plugging in our carrying powerbanks just so you get what you need.
I know what I'm talking about since I've used the Note7, and only last up to 12 hours despite having a 3500mAh battery.
I can't believe we have to endure what iOS users have with sealed batteries. We had a choice of changing to extended batteries with a removable battery system.

4000mAh is for 2 days with moderate use, and Samsung already has a device with more than 4000mAh battery, 5000mAh to be precise - the Galaxy A9 Pro 2016.
5000mAh is for 2 days with extremely heavy use, and I currently have a phone with 5000mAh battery and it lasts a solid 2 days with very intensive use.
So for a flagship, I expected a lot more.

They have only changed the battery , otherwise it would have been too pricey and useless to modify something to the motherboard when a new one can still work if it's made specifically for the phone . Considering that he or she is replacing only the battery with the FE's one he/she is practically doing exactly the same thing Samsung has done . So in my opinion this my work , but I don't recommend to no one to do so unless you don't have some strong experience in engineering .

At least for the Note, which is supposed to be a business phone and a workhorse, there should be a removable battery. My last two phones are second-hand flagships and I like knowing that I can just replace the battery (from eBay) and go on, nothing else breaks down. However, for the price that I paid for my current phone I can already buy a new phone with a sealed battery, but it's hard to find one with a removable one. It's madness. No idea what I will buy a few years from now. And I hate it when people are forced to throw away a perfectly good 2-year old phone, which was very expensive, just for the battery.

So it's smaller but 0.1 mm thicker. All the problems were, it was said, because the old battery would expand when hot (like almost any other battery) but the phone was not allowing it as the tolerances were too tight and materials too strong.

I'll explain why: While installing a firmware. a file called con.android.footer reads the version of the firmware and compares it to the one inside the hardware. if it matches. the software can "set foot" (hence footer) inside the device and it can operate the device. if it does not match. the reader simply blocks access and it's a brick.
