Analyst: don't hold out for an iPhone SE refresh

17 July 2017
With the majority of smartphone sales happening around the 5.5" mark, even Apple may want to focus on larger screens.

Iphone 5, 5s, SE is a classic design and I hope they don't give up on it.
Just yesterday a friend was talking about upgrading 5s to 6 but had reservations about getting a bigger phone. She was relieved to hear about SE. Perhaps they should name it different. I guess some people that are upgrading just look for a higher model number.
The silent majority wants to operate their phones single handed (without screen shrinking) and likes phones that fit in a pocket.

I hope they drop the price of SE once again and sell it as their entry level device, because this is one of the best value phones available on the market right now. It got one of the best speed, a great camera, decent battery life and a gorgeous design, even though the bigger bezels might look old school

The next SE will most likely make use of the iPhone 6 body.

I myself am waiting for the next SE refresh to replace my not too handy iPhone 6s with the case on. If they dont launch so, will go for the rose gold 128GB SE.

There's probably not a lot of need for an iPhone SE refresh..
They have that market pretty much to themselves ..

I'm holding onto my S7 edge because Samsung Pay is superior to Apple Pay and Android Pay. I can leave my ATM card at home now. I'd hold onto the SE just for Apple Pay.

I don't care about design like all you shallow fanboys look for. I grew up in an era when Nintendo had reliable products with bad industrial design. Practicality over design. Most exterior shells can be duplicated in China for peanuts.

A 4" display is simply not practical for typing or doing anything except for a niche crowd who have small hands, fingers, wear tight jeans, or simply hasn't adjusted to bigger displays and don't mind being forever stuck in 2010-2012. Unwilling to change.

SE makes a good iPod touch and workout phone. That's about it in usability for me. Loving Samsung Pay.

Screen size means very little, it's the phone size that matters -- latest flagships show how a bigger screen doesn't mean a bigger phone.

"as that is where most smartphone sales are" - because there are no good phones with smaller screens these days. I believe manufacturers just can't put enough tech in a smaller case and make customers think that bigger is better, so they don't complain. I'd LOVE to get powerful 4" handset, and SE is the only option.

For iPhone standards, it is the best looking one followed by the original iPhone and then 4/4s design. I used to love the 4/4s design but grew to hate it because all-glass isn't practical and slippery. I only got the space gray SE (AT&T GoPhone) because it was only $200 at Best Buy and will use it as an iPod touch.

I do like my SE over the M7 and S7e but I barely use it. Typing on a 4" is a nightmare. Most of the world has moved onto with 5-5.5" screens. Nice looking phone. Has the worst camera on both sides among my fab five. Can't adjust the camera resolution to a smaller size to save space. And whatever iOS limitations it has.

SE will likely be the final iPhone in my life because iOS isn't really for me anyway and will not give in buying any future smartphone without headphone jack. Looking really hard into getting the BlackBerry KEYOne but the SD625 might lag over time. It stands out and the physical keyboard is probably easier to type on than my SE.
