Sonu4678, 21 Jul 2017Sales figure tells otherwise. Talk about yourself buddy. You're absolutely right. The fact is, most smartphone users will glom onto any fad-feature Apple and Samsung throw at them, whether useful, pointless, or utterly counterproductive. For them it's not about utility, but about feeling techno-hip.
Curved displays and elongated aspect ratios are by far the worst design aspects of the modern smartphone, and we have the shallow, marketing-prone masses to thank for it.
Thank goodness I got the Huawei Mate 9 when I did. We may never again see a phablet come so close to design perfection.

Kristi, 21 Jul 2017Dude what are you talking abou the market always tends to b... moreGS5 sold much better than GS6....
GS5 sold less than anticipated because of its low specs (for an s phone). GS6 sold *even* less because it was even leas feature packed.
GS7 sold well because they partly returned to feature centric existence. GS8 looks to seel less than GS7 because again it's feature-sparse (worse than S7 in many key aspects).
The best selling S phone by far was GS4 which was completely plastic. The idea that premium looking phones sell better doesn't hold.
What does hold is that sealing the battery makes more money to the manufacturer despite the lower sales ... Which IMO is the real reason to move to premium design, to "hide" the fact that they did away with one of the best features S phones ever had (infinite autonomy, instant recharge ... but lower profits in the long run).

Anonymous, 21 Jul 2017Neither 8 will be truly gr8. The Note8 is another Galaxy 8+... moreDude what are you talking abou the market always tends to become better so you logic sucks 2014 stop including gs5 (great phone in my opinion but) consumer response was terrible that started the premium talking cause it didnt sell nearly as anticipated , 2015 bad? Why dude gs6 note 5 6s plus 64bit processors yeah it had some snapdragon 810 things but overall okay , 2016 the best ever???? Why the note 7 exploded and if anything the headphone jack started losing in this period with moto and iphone while this year only htc did it , 2017 best all phones have improved since when is lg g5 good it literally sucked failed in every way and lg was just ashamed so they switched bro they are the same company so the lg g6 is just better and please every sony fan listening to this stop being stupid just stop the sony brand died with the xperia z3 and that was truly sorry as i was a fan of that but just move on stop being little b*tches arguing about who pioners 4k but everything else the word all those years of advertisement of waterproof xperias sony stated do not use it to take photos underwater with an infinity of images on the web showing how its done by sony and z3+ awfull battey life and performance but better design than the z3 then z5 worst than z3 than xperia x worst than ever but anyway just get over just watch the damn sales and they show how it's done the smartphone overall. Xz is worst than huawei even huawei and xiaomi sale more than sony premium devices. Personal prefernecs of devices like ir blaster or quad dac like what we like me and you are gona be rare but existent anyway the market always improves to sell more and if a product fails the sales will show it.

Okay, we still don't have the final confirmation of the specs and everything else, obviously until the official launch. But based on what we know so far, I can say that unfortunately the cons are a little bit more than the pros. Obviously I'm really satisfied for this rumor/ leak /or confirmation, that the screen to body ratio of the Note 8 will be slightly higher than even that of the S8+, so great and excellent job to Samsung for that. But on the other hand, I'm really sort of disappointed for the lack of the innovative In-screen-fingerprint reader tech. And even more, because as minimum I was expecting, that at least they will eventually locate it centralised, and not incredibly again in the same awkward place as the S8, mostly the + variant, because the one on the standard S8 is quite better (compared).
What's more, we even still are not sure if it will include a 6GB RAM as standard or the same 4GB (obvious, hopefully it will be 6GB as base), nor even 100% of the dual cam setup, but let's say that 99% yes. Then to be sure we have to wait a little bit more. In other words, at least, hopefully it won't be just an S8+ with an S Pen (stylus) and its features (and even considering as well that on the battery side, it will be even slightly decreased).
So, forgetting the lack of the under the screen fingerprint scanner tech, and plus that instead even at the same uncomfortable location, etc. But as minimum, that it will include a dual cam setup, a 6GB RAM and a dual stereo speakers as well. To say the least to be realistic as much as possible.

I love this, more boxy design than S8, but fp scanner position still fail... Will be more appealing if it comes with stereo speakers too...

z8, 21 Jul 2017If both the Note 8 and the iPhone 8 meet expectations we'll... moreNeither 8 will be truly gr8. The Note8 is another Galaxy 8+ with an S-Pen. Nothing truly innovative anymore. The only 8 I am interested comes from Nokia (aka HMD).
2017 has got to be the worst year for phones since 2015. Apple goes back to glass. Headphone jack being removed on flagships. Removable battery forever gone.
The only interesting phone is the BlackBerry KEYOne. Something Kim Kardashian should use. It is something different although I preferred the BlackBerry Classic design more being a bigger Bold 9900.
Going to use my G5, Pixel, and V20 forever or until they all die out on me. Just yawning once they announce the Note8, iPhone 8, V30, and Pixel 2 all officially. V30 loses removable battery and IR blaster. Pixel loses headphone jack.
The class of 2016 was the best ever surpassing 2013 and 2014. While 2017 is the worst next to 2015.
2016 (First Google phones, G5, V20, SE, HTC 10, XZ)
2014 (The last great Note, S5, HTC One M8)
2013 (first full year Android truly shined)
2011 (classic phones released, 4s, Pre 3, N9, 9900)
2012 (Xperia S, Nexus 4, Optimus G, Note 2, S3)
2010 (Nexus One, iPhone 4)
2017 (RIP headphone jack, removable battery)
2015 (bootloops, Snapdragon 808 and 810)

I don't think there will be a fight. You can actually do productive things on the Note 8.
