As for deeper blacks, it can't be blacker than the substrate, and maybe it's just me but the S8 with the display off looks kinda greyish to me in daylight - I can see the transition between bezel and display more easily than on a HTC U11 with the display off. Of course it will test very well on a light meter (since it's reflecting, not emitting), so will ace display measurements like in GSMArena's reviews regardless, and will be good in a dark room, but I'm not personally sure it's really much better than the best LCDs are (especially since I don't often use my phone in a dark room, which is where you'd expect the difference to be most visible).

JDI is working on oled for mobile, if it is not ready until then Sony can get from LG.
Apple will be rookie on this, better to buy from LG.

Xperia Oled is only for IFA 2018, JDI still has a lot of time.

So first Google leaves Samsung and chooses LG's oled.
Now Apple will do the same..

No doubt.. If V30 has a display as good as the Tv's, it is way better than Samsung's. Red will be red not orange-ish.

              RGB is better than pentile..

Judging by the amount of money Apple has in its reserves, and how much it can use this to minimise paying taxes... smart move Apple.

This would also give them independence, so that they won't be trapped by Samsung's production or sales prices. And it means, even if they can ONLY churn out 400 Million displays per year... that's still enough displays for the iWatch, iPod, iPhone, iPad, MacBooks and iMacs. And if they start making extra, they can keep them to refurbish broken screens... or even sell it to their competitors like Microsoft, Nokia, BlackBerry, SONY, Nintendo, etc etc.

And if the quality isn't that good, they can still use it on any low-end device, and sell the rest to their competitors while they buy the cutting-edge stuff from Samsung.

Zenodroid, 24 Jul 2017Inhouse is actually a furniture shop in Europe, so good to ... morelol.

Anyways, I just started using an iPhone 7 a few weeks ago. Been using Android since HTC Magic, (8-9 years ago). I must say their LCDs are really good. I don't want OLED as I like how sharp LCDs are in mobile phones. The color calibration and white balance are excellent! The best I've used.
I've used lots of AMOLED screens and Samsung makes the best. I really like them but I prefer the LCD in iPhones. I will miss that if they move to OLED.
Now the benefit of OLED is better battery life and deeper blacks, so that will be good as blacks aren't the best in the iPhone. The LG G5 I had had better blacks.

That's still going to be a long way to go for the development team.
