Nokia E6 and X7 go on pre-order in Germany, seem pricey

14 May, 2011
When announced a month ago, the Nokia duo E6 and X7 caused a good deal of excitement. Packing the latest Symbian update, called Anna, the two smartphones proved that the OS is not yet ready to head into...

      @adkane

Don't waste your time dude on arguing with these mindless people. They are obviously bashing and just saying non-sense even if they made their comments very long, it will still be like a dumb/empty composition.

When you'd learned to appreciate the values and the features of a device, regardless of the number of specs it has, you will be more satisfied with it specially when it is very useful.

These companies are meant to compete with each other on the benefit of their consumers. We consumers are not meant to compete, argue with each other or defend these companies' products. We are here just to enjoy.

Comments here are becomming pointless day by day.

Actually like mentioned Symbian wasn't closed until April 5th, 2011. So it was open source until then.

While it's true that not all external HDD requires an external power source. The majority of them do. Even the ones by Western Digital which requires only a single USB cable to power drive has a high failure rates and sucks.

so basically you're going to carry speakers, mouse, keyboard, and basically a cradle to hold your N8/C7 up so you can type on it? Why not just carry a laptop? LOL you see the irony in your statement? You're supposedly trying to make your life simpler by not having to carry around a laptop with USB OTG yet to get the same functionality you're carrying more things than a simple laptop. So you're going to carry speakers? how do you plan on power said speakers? Those must be some very weak speakers if they can be powered through USB alone. Same with external HDD? Most 2.0" USB HDD requires 2 USB connections, one for data connection one for power. Can your N8/C7 power said external HDD? how long would that last?

Nokia Maps have existed before android but were they free before Android? No. Android Maps were free before OVI maps became free. Don't even mention Nokia Navigation Phones, you paid a premium for navigation on those which is the same as a subscription. Android 2.0 Devices got free navigation October 29th, 2009. Where as OVI maps became free to selected smart phones Jan 31 2010. See the difference in time here buddy?

Ah...the famous question that is on everyones' minds. You wanna know why? Back then they just cant compete with nokia when it came to symbian. With nokia you had an app store and maps which SE and Samsung did not. And also most apps and games are written with nokia's api so some of the apps wont work with se or samsung devices.

"So again why have Samsung and SE stopped using Symbian if it was free?"

Wrong, they still have to pay royalties to Symbian foundation back then.

eh? all i need is a bt mouse, usb keyboard and a HDMI port and bingo, my n8 is already hooked up to my desktop monitor. No need for those USD80$ docks.

"You know the Android devices has had free turn by turn navigation way before Symbian did did you not? In fact Nokia gave free navigation due to the pressure from Android's free navigation."

As far as i know nokia maps (not ovi) existed even before android was created.

"Android also has offline google maps which requires no data too genius."

Way to fall for Google's words chap. You still need to connect to the internet when you want to use the navigation feature of google maps.

"BT 3.0 is basically a useless function"

How? I could transfer stuff to other phone even faster than i did with 2.0, although bt 3.0 is currently not set at full speed.

is not just for in car stereo only mate. My friend once held a party at his home and he was able to show off his c7 to his friends AROUND THE HOUSE while transmitting music at the same time to the hi-fi set.

AnonD-3713, 15 May 2011Your phones were never resource hungry? I guess you only ow... moreSigh where to start.

I've owned Nokia N91, N80, N95, N900, E71, E71x. So yes i've had experience with Symbian and Nokia in general. You talk about aluminum unibody but guess what? the Nokia N80 and N95 were made with plastic body. E71 even though was made with aluminum had reception problems due to placement of the antenna. However the N95 and E71/x were one of my favorite Nokia devices. The N900 was horrible. Maemo sucked even though they marketed it as a device that should have been able to compete with Iphone and android. I've also owned the N800 media tablets as well so yes; i've had quite a bit of experience when it comes to Nokia.

Funny how you also fail to comprehend english. You used the fact that Google's Android OS is free hence why it has gained so much market share in a short amount of time. I replied with the fact that until recently, Symbian was free open source OS for mobile devices. Yet why has it been declining in market share? Why has Sony Ericcson stopped using Symbian as well? I've also owned the P1i from SE and it was a solid device. So again why have Samsung and SE stopped using Symbian if it was free? Why has Symbian market share declined if it was free until april 5th 2011 when Nokia officially made Symbian not open source?

Funny how you claim the G2x old technology lcd, it uses IPS technology which is same as Iphone 4, iphone 4 display is rated one of the best. I won't get into detail about USB OTG as that is useless, and as an American with a non crappy car I don't have a need for USB 3.0 and FM transmitter, but of course if you're poor and can't afford a car radio that has AUX in I suppose those features would be nice.

ROFl so before your comment about games was that you couldn't get full gaming experience as you would on a desktop yet I corrected you saying flash gaming on a mobile device is possible with full content flash, now you shrug it off. You fanbois are so hilarious. I envy your ignorance, so what's Nokia's current smartphone marketshare again? How many N8's have Nokia sold since launch day? How many C7's? Oh thats right, Nokia is too embarassed to release any sales figures.

USB OTG was originally intended for mobile devices to link to mp3 players so that Mobile phones can download music and place them directly into said Mp3 players or applications such as that. Now that flash memory has become relatively cheap and can be made in great yields USB OTG is useless. Let me ask you this, can your S^3 devices dock up to a laptop dock like the atrix can? Thought so, can't right?

You know the Android devices has had free turn by turn navigation way before Symbian did did you not? In fact Nokia gave free navigation due to the pressure from Android's free navigation. Android also has offline google maps which requires no data too genius.

Sidekick 4G, Samsung Galaxy S Plus, Samsung Galaxy S 4G all have bt 3.0 but you know in the US BT 3.0 is basically a useless function. Most of our car's have an aux jack and we don't need to connect through BT or use an FM transmitter to play our songs on the radio. So maybe blame your country for not being technologically advance when it comes to car audio? My sister's 2007 Lexus ES 350 has had an aux jack since day one. TV out support? Obviously you don't even read the specs sheets here do you? Samsung Galaxy S supports TV out via micro USB to HDMI cable. My G2x has a micro HDMI port as well.

Penta Band? I've already addressed this "feature". This is nothing but a cost saving process for Nokia, instead of making a device multiple times with different radio bands they use penta band and market it as a feature. However most manufacturers gear their devices towards their intended markets. The Galaxy S made for US market is most likely only going to have US 3G frequencies, because why? The average users won't travel to Europe or Asia and require 3G service there. Also most US devices do have 2100MHz compatibility which guess what? Works all over EU and Asia. So again why the need for pentaband when you will most likely not go anywhere that needs it? Unless you're traveling frequently and require 3G connectivity on the go you'd most likely already have a world phone? Also Droid x2 will be a world phone so you happy? lol.

The market share for Nokia's high end devices seems to be dropping like flies in developed countries. If the windows OS doesn't prove its worth, the finns by then will only be known as entry level handset manufacturers. If only Nokia wasn't too arrogant then, they would have now still be retaining their market share at the top. Lesson in life, live humbly with respect.

It will be interesting to play with one and see whats "the guts"

"either an Optimus 2x or an Atrix has way more capabilities and offer a lot more possibilities than either of these two phones (or even the best of NOKIA's phone)"

LMFAO... apart from full flash (which users with half a brain don't want anyhow), would you care to name some of these "capabilities"???
Do the droid clones you mentioned have USB on the go, pentaband radio, lifetime turn by turn navigation without downloading 1 kb of 3G data, 2-3 day battery life, Bluetooth 3.0, FM transmitter, TV out support??
People have different needs, so what is good for you isn't necessarily good for everybody. We love our NOKIA's because of their reliability, not because they have a pretty interface and support Flash advertisements.
