14 May, 2011
When announced a month ago, the Nokia duo E6 and X7 caused a good deal of excitement. Packing the latest Symbian update, called Anna, the two smartphones proved that the OS is not yet ready to head into...

AnonD-3713, 15 May 2011Your phones were never resource hungry? I guess you only ow... moreLOL are you using the old gsmarena review on the 2x recording capabilities? Why not read their updated review with a finalized product? Sorry to say but I've owned several nokias, n91, n80, n95, n900, and lastly the e71. Out of those only the n91, n95, e71 left me with a good impression for Nokia. You Nokia fanbois talk about build quality yet the n95 was made entirely out of plastic? The original n95 had resource problems especially when viewing a simple webpage that had a couple of images. Sure I could've used opera and had the pages compress but why? I want the full experience. Also the g2x is considered better than the optimus 2x because it. uses more stock android rather than. Lg's. modified ui. We all know that. modified ui tends to slow down the. devices even when you fanbois use spb. shell to modify your ui there is. noticeable lag. So again now that you. know I had experience with Nokia. devices and symbian/maemo what are. you going to say now? Also, the n900. isn't my only marmot device. I owned the. n800 tablet before that too. The. n800 tablet was probably better than the. n900 in over all experience as it was not. marketed as a phone meant to compete. with the likes of iPhone and android. Funny because I told you that I spend a. lot of money on mobile devices did I not? What did you think I spent my money before android devices came out? I bought Nokia devicws. I still own the n95 and the n80 they're collecting dust though. So yes I've had tons of experience in both symbian and android as well as windows. Influence fact not only was s60 my only experience at symbian I also had the SE p1i.

You are all right about android phones having faster processors, but that's not the point really. We are buying phones, not processors.

It's true that symbian^3 phones have an ARM11 cpu and 256mb ram, but anyone who has ever worked with one, can tell you that they are definitely not slow and are very good at multitasking. Maybe not as fast as top android phones, but still pretty fast.

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5Z2fSBmptc

They have a BCM2727 multimedia chip (not just a gpu) that does almost all the heavy lifting, like accelerating the UI, taking photos, recording videos, and of course playing games, and to be honest it does a very good job.

          http://www.anandtech.com/show/4126/nokia-n8-review-/3

Feature wise, can you really say symbian^3 phones are lacking? Be honest. Just read their spec sheets here on gsmarena.

I'm not saying that they are better than android phones. I'm just trying to be real and see the phones as they are. I don't care about what brand they are or what kind of OS they have. Android, WP7, symbian, ios are all fine if they do what I want them to do. What I really care about are price, quality, design, features, performance, battery life, etc., not just cpu and OS.

I'm not a fanboy of any brand or OS and it saddens me when people attack and insult each other over some mobile phones.

I get your point DKVC and I understand tha some people are misinformed around here, but it seems to me you are kind of fighting for a lost cause...

I mean, don't you think that, say , either an Optimus 2x or an Atrix has way more capabilities and offer a lot more possibilities than either of these two phones (or even the best of NOKIA's phone) for practically the same price?

Personnaly, I got nothing against or for any brand in particular, I just look at what they offer to the customers and then judge if it's below, on par or above the competition. And right now, it feels like NOKIA isn't on par with other so-called high-end manufacturers.

If they were to sell their devices at prices that reflect what they got to offer then I would see nothing wrong with them (kinda like Apple for that matter).

Anyway just my two cents, not trying to offend you or anything, but I'm just wondering why you back NOKIA so much, is it sentimental attachment, personnal taste or do you take pleasure in defending the underdog... You seem to have good knowledge about cellphones and hardware in general that's just why I'm wondering..

Anyway, it's an interesting discussion that is going on here, so please people try to keep it civilized and focus on the facts. Good day to everyone! :)

P.S: English isn't my mother tongue so pardon my poor grammar.

Laurynas, 15 May 2011N95 was also pretty fast abandoned by NOKIA.N95 received a bunch of revisions and the latest firmware was launched at the end of 2009, considering that the phone was launched at the beginning of 2007, it's almost 3 years supporting with updates, I don't think it's "pretty fast".

I guess you only owned Android phones, you probably the type of person that only know about smartphones when iPhone came to market. If your phone is not resource hungry, explain how can your amazing Optimus 2x have a dual-core CPU and still stutter on video-recording and web browsing? I think you should also checkout and compare the battery consumption of this thing with most of other phones.
No one but Nokia used Symbian? LOL Don't you know that Sony Ericsson and Samsung had plenty of Symbian smartphones before moving to Android? You have suck a limited knowledge and I really pity you.
Your phone give a better experience out of the box and you find it funny? Well, no problem, I always thought that Android was for lazy people anyway. (:
Nokia got most Market share because they care for all the world market and they were always the best, they brought most of features that phones have today, they made the first all-in-one smartphone that was simply the best phone in the world (ever heard of N95?), almost everything that phones have today were introduced by Nokia, and without Nokia, you probably wouldn't even hear about smartphones and would be making calls with giant phones with external antennas.
You have money to spend with extremely expensive phones? That's good for you. But your so amazing Optimus 2x don't even come close to Nokia phones in terms of hardware quality and functionality, try to use USB On-the-go or FM Transmitter, not to mention the average audio-quality for such a expensive device and the old tech LCD screen, also Bluetooth 2.0 and only dual-band 3G. Is that a joke?
But hey, who cares? You have a dual core phone that you can play Facebook games on the web browsing, that's amazing!
Oh, and good luck with the awesome support that LG is so famous of, hope your Optimus 2x won't be abandoned as soon it's not financially interesting anymore as you usually see from LG. (:
