Trivial 'news'... ALL OS and software have security holes and that's why there are regularly updates, antivirus, malware removers and and and... NO system is fully immune as governments want to have remote access to digital systems, just in case of... An almost totally secure system would simply be prohibited...

Oh noes! Android sucks because your data isn't secure when you connect to an unsecure wifi source! Everyone, welcome to the world!

        *clap clap clap*

But in all seriousness, does this article not say that this only applies to versions before v2.3.3? Meaning this issue while not irrelevant, only applies to third party apps for up to date droids?

Besides, anyone connecting to an unsecured WiFi network should know they are putting themselves at risk

The key message here is "unsecured wifi". For 90% of cases unsecured means stolen. All the hotels, airports, respectable restaurants etc. have their wi-fi secured.

Android really sucks. Well what do we expect from an OS designed to be a vessel for Google's ads? It wasn't built with security in mind, it was built to deliver ads. The manufacturers jumped on the bandwagon since they themselves don't know how to make an OS and they suck on software and UI. Android is overhyped. People needs to realize that.

Man well the more I read things about Android and security issues the more I miss my Blackberry. I'm sorry but no matter what OS people use Blackberry OS is pretty much bullet proof. I like my Android phone, but I'm not even over the whole Sony Data "leak" (Noah's Ark grade flood is more like it), I don't creepers running around with my phone numbers, or some of the other sensitive information that I keep on it. I don't really use public wi-fi area's either though (a HSPA+ perk).

Another reason why people will move away from Android. It's not secure. People will surely leave this platform and the whole ecosystem will implode.

it seems the entire concept of "cloud" is not secure. Many government organizations form many governments can view the contents of the "cloud". On top of that as long as it is easily accessible it will be easy to hack into. I prefer locally stored encrypted data and regualarly backed up model of personal data storage. xman

IOS the best even Symbian doesn't has the Android issue, I used Nokia n900 and it's linux phone the Meamo on N900 it's way better than Android by miles! More powerful than Dual core Android phone and it's only 600 MHz like iPhone 3GS!

So basically, anyone using a device that will not get any further updates (like "old" Wildfire) is pretty much f**ked. Nice.
