iPhone 8 might record 4K in 60fps

04 August 2017
There’s also a chance of the front camera can shoot at the same resolution and frame rate, but we highly doubt it.

The biggest mistake one can make is assume that a bump in resolution instantly means also a bump in quality, which is not the same by any means. I'd very much prefer crystal clear Full HD, with slo-mo capabilities and much improved video processing over the same stuff we already have today only with more pixels.

Thankfully it does look like I won't be forgotten (they may deliver both).

mark, 04 Aug 2017apple already knew that problem and they have already figur... moreLOL... U r a role model for all SMART-ASS isheep fanboys in comments section...
U talk like u know the problem, but in reality NO...

The overheat problem with 4K recording are related to the cooling system in a phone.
IF the cooling system (the copper) are small, moreover placed on one place, and the back cover is not made from metal for easier dissipation of heat (glass, plastic), overheat will appear in EVERY SMARTPHONE capable of recording 4K, not just Samsung, TROLL...

Moreover, for iphone to be able to record 4K @60fps, the GPU must be on par with desktop mid-range class GPU, and have at least 4core (in powerVR case, as powerVR GPU is bigger in size, unlike Mali GPU which is small, so 8core is the minimal, like in Kirin 960).

In short, to be able to record 4K @ 60fps, apple must:
-) upgrade the GPU, paired the CPU with more powerful GPU than previous ones
-) upgrade the CPU so it can cope up with the GPU for processing the video
-) add battery capacity must be at least 4000mAh to be able to stay a day in a charge, as it will consume more power when used for 4K 60fps recording
-) add more RAM for better video processing (the VERY REASON why Android phone equipped with 6-8GB)
    -) better heatsink design
-) lots of copper placed in spread to evenly spread the heat, so it won't get too hot, which will hinder phone's performance (throttling down)
-) back metal case for easier & quicker heat dissipation

Think apple will DO ALL OF THIS in one sweep? IMPOSSIBLE. NEVER. EVER

Even the supposedly beginner of it all was just apple joining the smart phone bandwagon seeing the growth they were making. And it wasn't even better than a flip phone of the time except for touch. It was just popular

Obviously lacking in a few areas. But overall great. A little slower now but still perfectly fine with daily usage. Still feature rich, great display, alright battery life, can be gotten really cheap, and better quality in headphones than newer phones still. And dev support is not what it was but still up there.
Samsung really could have given it lollipop at the very least though.

But just hecause of upgraded, chip, camera, and software support you should try the new note or a nice htc or sony fromt this time frame

I remember the oppo with rotating camera module, this should be done internaly on all phones, would save space and upgrade the front camera.

It would just be adding a rotating mirror module to the oppo periscope module

AnonD-558092, 04 Aug 2017Oh good. And where people will watch their videos? Oh right... moreIf you record a lot of moments through the years, you'll understand why people want 4K and that is to future proof the quality. When you look back at some of the videos recorded in 480p, it's really a pain to watch. even 720p now is a pain unless you watch it on mobile.

I wish they'll have it. In fact, i wish they have slowmo recording at FHD with at least 480fps so the other manufacturers will do the same. But as the the writer says, Apple won't want customers to have everything at once and he's right, Apple has always been doing that since they are the leader.

When even the midrange Snapdragon 625 can do 4K @ 30 fps, then the latest iPhone flagship doing the same @ 60 fps, with some adjustments or a new codec is not unbelievable...

I would however love to see 1080p@240 and if possible 720p@480 too, it might require mounting RAM on the camera itself, like Xperia XZ Premium did.
Although, I'm not into iPhones but might consider one if its that awesome....

AnonD-565268, 04 Aug 2017I wish iOS 11 could have the basic functionality of deletin... moreI could not agree more with you. iPhones are good phones, hardware wise, but with a really backward OS. *After* buying an iPhone, I discovered at least 20 basic things (one of which is the example you quoted) that are stupidly wrong with iOS.

I am so irritated with iOS that tit-bits like 4K 60fps recording, AR, bezel-less display and quick software updates would do nothing to get me to buy an iPhone again.

An even more amazing thing is that *none* of the iOS vs Android phone comparisons ever highlight how broken iOS is, functionally.

did you miss the part where it says 60 fps? note 3 was doing 4k but at max of 30fps. and no other phone today films at 4k 60fps, hell, few phones films at 1080p 60fps.
