AnonD-8709, 17 May 2011nokia would name it n9xx if its a meego device and not n9..... moreWhat? No, Nokia dropped the 3 numbers convention a year ago and is only using 1 number for all their present and future devices. There will be no N9xx, it will simply be N9.

"We're not really sure what to make of the Symbian interface and we're really not sure whether Nokia needs a second E7, be it 12MP or not."
I couldn't agree more! It's just a 12MP E7.

Looks a lot like Anna, but the taskbar at the top betrays it to be Meego. Anyways, who really cares as long as it's released on time and reviewers get to spend some quality time with it.
As far as I am concerned, Meego's a dead baby even if Nokia fanboys say otherwise. In this hypersaturated market, I'd like to see how Meego manages to gain a foothold. The way I see it, the N9 and Meego would be following the same path of N900 and Maemo. Further, Nokia turned off a lot of potential customers by announcing that WP7 would be their focus instead of Symbian/ Meego or whatever.

If this is Symbian PR2 or PR3 then how do you explain this taskbar layout???

The camera is not the same. If you compare the two lenses you will see they are different. N9's lens suggest smaller sensor beneath. Also the bulkier size of N8's camera was a physical requirement - large sensor(large even in compact camera terms) and autofocus require a lot of space - just look at your average digital camera. So with less than half the size(we have qwerty here) this is definitely not the same 1/1.9" marvelous sensor we know from N8. The 28mm are just 35mm film equivalent so there is lens for any sensor size that can be "translated" to 28mm. This will probably result in worse high ISO performance and narrower dynamic range.

watch it again and tell if you really think it's symbian anna? It's an ignorance to say it so obviously..

Using Anna icons does NOT mean it is Symbian! That is clearly Meego

It is definitely not Symbian Anna. Check out the status bar on the top of the screen at around 0:42. There is also a completely different 3 x 3 grid for the task manager.
I believe Nokia is intentionally using similar icons in both Meego and Symbian. Whether that is good or bad is up for everyone to decide themselves...

I don't think anna stand a chance here....
the grid view is different
the on-screen keyboard is different,
the way it switches app between the home screen is different
there's no way NOKIA could work around anna this fast for a change
predictably Meego!!!!(with anna theme on top
only question here is we can still see "OVI map"& OVI "DRIVE"(?)
thought it was ceased...

And why would I buy a dead platform that Nokia has basically abandoned (research platform for 'next disruption maybe in 2020') and for which there's scant software or developers, unless I want to roll my own from the source packages?
Purely a geek phone that will fail miserably.
Shame, form factor looks nice enough

Alright. IT's MEEGO!
But so what? Will MEEGO rules? able to compete with android or iOS?
No.. MEEGO is not capable to rule. No matter how smooth is the UI or whatsoever..
When IT"S APPLESS.. then no point. peace.
NO APPs? No Sales.
