My a5 2016 cracked yesterday ( from 1 foot) . It has a minor crack. I miss the alpha. Dropped from 5 feet and not a single scratch.
I am done with sammy. They will make every phone from glass. It is a HORRIBLE material!!
AND people gonna say don't drop you phone!!!
But is so slippery!!! I dropped this phone in 1 year and 4 month 3-4 times and I am not that clumsy.

If only Note7 had a removable battery, Samsung wouldn't have to recall the entire phone. They could've just sent a free battery replacement.

Still can last longer than your typical iphones and chinese phones. And charge faster too

Flossy420, 05 Aug 2017I highly doubt it. LG has always been bad in regard to bat... moreI never found 73h Endurance Rating to be a bad thing.
Pushing an inefficient IPS LCD screen in 5.7" size with QHD resolution along with that slightly less efficient (than SD835 and SD626) 14nm SD821, so 3300mAh has a lot to power.

Now they're going to the OLED race and get that SD835 and LG's batteries are going to kill Samsung's in terms of endurance, now that the S7 Edge got 96h but S8+ only got 89h - 7h drop in terms of endurance.

The small battery is really down to Samsung's stupid design philosophy. First contributor is the stylish but very fragile and useless curved screen edges. These thinner edges narrows the battery's maximum possible width to ensure safety from shorted circuits and hence explosion. Second is the choice of a stupid aspect ratio. This 18.5:9 display means you can lose more than a square inch of battery area than if you had the standard 16:9 aspect ratio. Lastly, Samsung's belief that thin anorexic phones will sell more even if it means thinner, smaller capacity batteries. The presence of the s-pen slot also reduces the area usable for the battery. So now you can see how the Note 8's battery came to be a mediocre 3,300mAh capacity.

Samsung and other Oems are obsessed in manufacturing Thin light phones with smaller batteries. Wtf. For midrange phones Samsung has the A9 pro with a 6 inch screen and a monster 5, 000 mah Battery. Xiaomi Mi mix 6.4 Inch screen with 4,400 mah battery, huawei mate 9 with 5.9 inche screen has a 4,000 mah battery. What's your excuse Samsung? I'm not buying. This wired tall skinny phone with an average battery

Wow, Samsung is shooting themselves in the foot once again. They're crazy XD

S8 engineer: "My pen is big. Sadly, it's only my S pen that is big. A certain body part is very tiny. Since my brain is also very tiny, I'll put in a tiny battery. Tiny is good!

Even if they always laugh at me, because a certain body part is so tiny. But I showed them! I placed the fingerprint reader next to the camera, so no one who doesn't have giant fingers can reach it comfortably. That will teach them how much you suffer when body parts are too small! Haha!

... Wait, what's this? Another of these spam mails offering pills to increase the size of a certain body part. Oh well... the last dozen pills didn't do anything, but perhaps this will. I'll give it a try. Then it's not just the S pen that is big!"

                        Guys....

Every time a new cpu becomes better when it comes to power used all OEMs will give us enough for 1 day .

                        - S8 (3000) x S7 Edge (3500)

XBR, 05 Aug 2017I would rather get the safe 3300mah version than the explod... moreDon't be dumb. Ever heard of Quality control? It is all about fixing the issues and providing better solutions. Here, Samsung didn't learn from their mistake, rather they ran away from it. The 3300 Mah battery won't take you through a whole day with that massive infinity display and SD835. As somebody here mentioned about all the bloatware and apps. Well, it is true they take a large chunk of battery. Not to forget about the usual culprits like GPS/Location/Wi-Fi/LTE/Camera/Video etc.. There are even other devices which has got better battery. Asus Zenfone 3 zoom has 5000Mah battery in a sleek body, Samsung galaxy A9 pro has 5000 mah battery, The upcoming Samsung galaxy s8 Active has a 4000Mah battery exclusive to AT&T, A chinese brand called Ouiktel K10000Pro has got 10000mah battery with no incidents of explosions or anything that I heard about. "If they want, they can. But they won't..." because these companies know that the number of stupids who jaw-drop and opt their sleek design and buy their phones for exorbitant prices exceeds the brilliant, thinking ones. Many will buy Note8 and I assure they won't use more than 2 years. The 3300 mah battery performance will go down the drain and the phone will go useless... That is what exactly these companies want...Does that ring any bells ? I wish government proposes strict laws for these smartphone companies, just like everywhere else.

3300 battery for big display QHD resolution display is simply ridiculous and that too for business series phone.....what were they thinking. And in the name of software optimisation they will kill background apps so every app will reload when doing multitasking and this will waste lot of time....so what's the use of high end cpu if it's gonna take long to reload apps.

If only Samsung were better in its software, less preinstalled bloatware crap, better optimized Android etc, 3300mAh battery would last a much longer period of time. OLED already drains less power than LCD.

I still would like to see all phone manufacturers move on to something better than lithium for batteries. Lithium is last century technology. Battery life and battery deterioration is the bottleneck, it doesn't matter how awesome the camera, display or the SoC are.

Spend some money on R&D, do not neglect the battery.
