River rafter, 05 Aug 2017Sir! I applaud at your understanding of all this. If only ... moreThe worst part is that it's much taller and 8.5mm thick compared to the prior phones.
It's not even just too keep it thin or for looks.
They literally just waisted space and put weak capacity in. I guess because Sony, LG, and HTC got away with it for so long.

Well, that they reduce it, after the fiasco, it is completely understandable. But, on the other hand, hopefully it will last for a entire day (although it is doubtfully) but hopefully not.

If only more people thought and understood all of this like you, Samsung would put an end to making bad phones with excessive focus on looks with cheap hardware like the battery on this thing. Samsung gets away with making phones like this cause people buy it and make it the top rated phone of the year. It's people's fault. I can foresee people having major complaints with the battery and fingerprint sensor placement. The note series is DEAD and samaung is the new apple. Money minded.

            3300mah bombs huh

As I commented before, the S series and Note series USED TO BE different. The S series could be glam with all the shiny glass back and sealed battery. The Note series would be the practical changeable modular battery, bigger screen and robust build - the Note can be as thick as 10mm for a bigger battery.

Now we have the both series being practically the same thing, except one has the S Pen, a camera bump (that's useless), but now the Note has a lesser battery. No one who has an S8 would not likely get a Galaxy Note.

But then again, Samsung wants both having good specs overall - we the consumers will choose which we need and want. I guess it's harder to leap specs and features to drastically differentiate both series.

Even my a5 2016 on wifi lasts a lot. BUT on LTE SUCKS SO HARD. Thx shamesung. I will never forget alpha for it absolute garbage battery. Could even call 112 at 15 percent battery. I AM DONE WITH SAMSUNG . I am starting to think that midrangers are ALWAYS better. They have a very good battery that lasts a whole day. What's the point to put SD 835 on a shitty battery? It's like putting a 400w psu on a gtx 1080. Of course that psu will die sooner. 3300mah battery on a 6.3 inch display?. My god...

All those power saving, battery optimization and efficient processor claims by the manufacturer does not and will never significantly compensate for a mediocre capacity battery. Anything less than 4000mAh battery means the phone will not last a day for the heavy mobile LTE data smartphone user who is spending lots of time online for Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Online News, online gaming, Google search, online shopping etc. Optimization only becomes significant when all you do on your high-end, state-of-the-art gigabit LTE phone is call and text and connect with free public Wifi.

Either the S7 Edge is 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7mm with 3,600mah battery is in danger of catching fire and they are not telling us....
                        Or the Note8 at 162.5 x 74.6 x 8.5mm with 3,300mah is being purposefully hindered majorly.

And since such cases with the S& edge hardly exist and are within the norm... Sadly number two seems it. Granted battery life won't be atrocious, but still not at all what it is supposed to be.
This is sad. Hopefully it's false, but these have been fairly correct.
The Note has always been the more powerful one every year. Only outdone by the S6 And S& Active models in battery. Bigger screen, better design, S-Pen, better chip, more ram, better battery.
And this is supposed to be more expensive and be their big come back to show the world how great the Note is????

It's slightly disappointing that the Note8 has "only" a 3300 mAh battery.

Especially when both the S7 Active & S8 Active have a 4000 mAh battery and the Samsung A9 Pro (2016) has 5000 mAh battery.

Even the S7 edge from last year had a 3600 mAh battery.

After giving the Note 8 a stupid 18.5:9 aspect ratio that is MORE than a square inch smaller in area than a similar 6.2" phone in a standard 16:9 aspect ratio---
After giving the Note 8 a powerful Gigabit LTE-Advanced (4CA) Category 16 LTE that is super fast and super draining on the battery than the already battery draining regular speed category 4 LTE---
After putting a battery draining, high resolution QHD screen on the Note 8 with a wasteful, 'you can no longer see that extra resolution' - 522ppi (except if you are into the nauseating Virtual Reality which is fad by the way)---
After putting on a top-of-the-line, super powerful, battery gobbling Snapdragon 835 processor---
After all these, Samsung gives you a mediocre 3,300 mAh battery because apperance, image, styling and an distorted anorexic fashion statement is more important than long-lasting enjoyment of the phone that only comes with bigger batteries.
The small battery is really not about battery safety. It's about putting above those stupid aesthetics--- the useless, very fragile curved screen, the anorexic thinness, the insanity of coming up with a 'holdable' phone that does not deserve to be called a true 6.2 or even just a 6-incher that is causing battery explosion risks. Samsung's novel solution? No, don't give up on the anorexic aesthetics! Just reduce the battery size and capacity for the Note 8 to become safe!
Oh well, thank God there are other Samsung phones with 5000mAh batteries and large 6.0" screens in standard 16:9 aspect ratio if you truly value the mobile LTE experience of not having the battery die on you while you are enjoying Facebook, Instagram, Youtube streaming, Online gaming, etc.
Oh and one more thing... this Note 8 is going to have a very good 'battery endurance rating' in gsmarena's battery tests because none of the tests ever use the phone's mobile data. Once you start using the Note 8's gigabit LTE capability, you'll realize just how horrible anything less than 4000mAh batteries are nowadays for LTE capable phones.
The future-proof gigabit LTE specs will surely make the Note 8 future proof because by the time gigabit LTE becomes mainstream, the Note 8's small capacity, non-removal battery will be long dead.

It doesn't matter. I have been using wireless charged devices for years now (starting with the Nexus 5 whose battery lasts about 3 minutes, lol) and if you buy a few affordable by well designed wireless charging docks and pads, and keep them around the house, office and in your bag, battery life is a non issue. I have a Note5 and the second it goes anywhere with me, it's always at 100%. And I keep an Anker battery pack in my bag for when I am away from electricity. This is the best wireless charging dock out there BTW...
