I bet it wont even match 5 year old Nokia N86 (8MP). HTC is damn famous for shitty cameras. Megapixels dont mean anything if the lenses, flash, CMOS size etc etc suck.

Its kinda disspointing that they dont produce cameraphone that have lense cover like those nokia n70, n95 sonyericson k800, k850, in i dont know why cant they put a xenon flash as standard. All they to is boast how slim their phone is. It seems everything is about thickness now. In my opinion, its ok for my phone to be thick, so they can put a large capacity battery, and a lense cover, and xenon flash, i dont care if my phone is fat and yours is thin, as long as my phone is feature packed. I miss those phone like n90 which you can twist everything, the sony ericsson p series is amazing too, like p800, p900, p910, which has a detatchable/folding keypad/board. You will never get tired of that phone cause it can be anything, you can have a hardware keypad if you like, flip the pad to reveal a bigger touch screen, or remove the keypad completely. Its such a shame that they didnt continue making that kind of phone anymore. All the phones now basically looks like the same thing, big ass touch screen with a few buttons under it. Apple made this form factor first, made a huge sale, and everyone follows, im not apple fanboy though, Im more like HTC fanboy

This is really very much just a numbers game at this point.
What's really the point of having a 16 megapixel camera on a mobile phone, and what's more its only equipped with a single LED flash? Ridonkulous.
And really we can only really see how much HTC has improved in the imaging department after a complete review of the Sensation's 8mp unit coz the models before that all had crap cameras.

Almost every HTC review on this site says "mediocre camera performance" - I don't see how adding more megapixels can change that if HTC doesn't work on other camera issues.

Man I just upgraded myself from 3.5MP camera to 8.1MP camera & now they have come up with a 16MP. Gosh I feel so outdated. --Roark 7489

NEC E313 (Best ever camera phone of its time)
Sony Ericsson K800i (still takes better photo than a 5mp
Sony Ericsson W990i (rocks, nothing compares to this, N8's main challeneger)
Sony Ericsson C905 (Best in its class)
Sony Ericsson Satio (Best ever in its class)
Nokia N8 (Best ever HD)
Find a challenger to challenge these cameras in their class.

Look at the performance / sales of the n8 vs last year's big hitters... The galaxy, the iphone 4, etc... These aren't inflated figures, they're reality...for me...this year I want something a bit different, maybe an xperia play for 12 months or a double shot...hey if it's out soon enough, maybe an n9! But don't say samsung don't update their phones...they do, they may not have done in the past, but all manufacturers are realizing they have to! And sammy have been excellent updating their flagships...

For all of those noobs that thinks a camera is just all about pixel count, and thinks that a cameraphone that has a 16mp camera is better than a 12mp dedicated camera, you are WRONG! I can even say that this phone can not beat a 5 megapixel dedicated camera. Megapixel is just the picture size, the higher the pixel count, the bigger the picture, but it doesnt mean the picture quality is better that the lower pixel count, 16mp is not always better than 12mp, or even 5mp, it depends on the camera sensor size, lense, and software. Just compare this 16mp phone vs.12mp nokia n8, 16mp is better? Nope. You will get a very big but blurry/grainy picture with this phone, compared to the n8 that produces not so big picture but much much better quality. Im not saying n8 is better phone, im just talking about the camera. And sensors pixel size can be upscaled, a 5 megapixel sensor can be upscaled to 12mp, just like stretching a picture, but it doesnt make the quality any better, i think thats htc is doing, upscaling a low quality sensor, cheating the unawared consumers

Before we all bash HTC for their cameras, I think we should wait and see what this one is like. Yes, Nokia have won the MP war for now, but sooner or later there will be something better. Xenon really is the deciding factor in my opinion but.... Look at the best camera phones of the last 5 years, but also look at the youtube videos and Flikr photos and you can see that photography and video capture has come a hell of a long way!
