[deleted post]Because everybody who's been around cellphones for a while knows very well symbian OS is (very) far from being the greatest, ESPECIALLY on touch screen devices.
You can be a loyal nokia fanboy all you want, at some point you just got to stop fooling yourself.

When I say I'm looking forward to nokia's WP7 customizations, I mean bluetooth file transfers, a proper file manager, USB mass storage mode and removable SD card support.
Almost anything else is added in mango update.

I agree with your comments but you do realize that symbian phones are smartphones, right?
Nokia was probably the first manufacturer to push and offer smartphones. The thing is that they didn't believe in any other OS besides symbian.
Also, they were late with symbian^3. It's a very nice OS, but they should have launched it 9-12 months earlier.
Saying that, I'm looking forward to MeeGo and WP7, especially WP7 considering that nokia is free to customize it.

Nokia has the highest standards on phone industry. The quality is very good, and the test are very extensive...
The only bad side of Nokia was they didn't believe in smartphones until now, this will change when WP enter in the scene.
But they are quality built, feels solid and I drop mine 5 times and was working great...not the same to my HTC HD, this falls about 30 cm. and the screen and camera stops working :(

[deleted post]Maybe samsung was the first to make aluminum body but whats the use of that??? My 6681, 5310, 6233 had fallen several times from at least 3-4 feet still they work as if its new. There is no need of aluminum body. Was there any samsung smartphone around the year 2006 +/- ???? And i think you had problem with n73, my brother has n73 and the images are just great he don't have any PINK DOTS and even my friend has N73 his images are also awesome even though it suffers from hanging problem but there is no camera issue like yours. May be unfortunately you got defective phone. Even gsmarena agrees that images are awesome

Quotes from gsmarena review
"It is obvious that they belong among the best".
P.S you also asked was there any at-least 1cm thin mobile around 2006. And the answer to that question is "NOKIA 5310 XPRESSMUSIC" It is 9.9mm thin with 2 mp cam but no aluminum body still then it rocks.

Kevin McIntye, 23 May 2011HDMI is not needed if you have DLNA, so it is the old wired... moreYou're right that 1ghz will make any os shine, but price need to be considered as well. I haven't seen a 1ghz phone at low midrange level. Even htc slapped a 600 mhz on wildfire s presumably to keep the price down.

Aaron, 20 May 2011What's the sense of having an HD video capable phone if it ... moreHDMI is not needed if you have DLNA, so it is the old wired vs wired story.
Would totally disagree on the 1GHz CPU (as a consumer and from within the industry). It is so needed, you cannot have a smartphone at the end of 2011 and into 2012 that does not. Even feature phones will be hitting 1GHz Cortex A8 by next year.
Cheers,
Kevin

Aaron, 20 May 2011Wait for the Qt-based UI to be released on Symbian^3 and yo... moreSorry you are dreaming if you think that Symbian does not need dual core. How do you sell a smartphone in 2011/2012 in a shop when Nokia is two generations behind on ARM CPU? Who will the person in the shop push, or the operator? If your hardware is not at least in the same ball park there is no hope!
Yes, Symbian is way more efficient than most OS, however Symbian can use the horse-power just the same as another OS. Just imagine what Symbian could do with competitive hardware and the great design of hardware that Nokia is so capable of?

AnonD-4697, 20 May 2011You are absolutely right..
Every phone nokia release is ... moreI am not sure where you are getting your numbers from, but they are sadly way off!
Yes Nokia overall has huge volume shipments, but sadly this is not enough. Apple is way more profitable with only a few handsets than Nokia. You have to remember that most of Nokia's volume is the very low end of the market.
Also the Smartphone numbers although good today, are slipping heavily, which means the company is in trouble in the near future. Hence why the new CEO has looked to change so much to ensure Nokia does not do what Motorola did and almost die!

Anonymous, 20 May 2011Mali-400 GPU is the worst choice...Adreno 220 much betterAnd what are you basing that assertion on? Numbers I have seen for Mali blow the pants off Adreno.
