Wow.. they're all pricing it at $1,000. Do they think it will attract many consumers at that price? I can spend that amount of money if only it would last a long time. Simply wow..

Why not sell special editions : one with Android Marshmallow 6.0 for 1500$, and one with Lollipop 5.0 for 2000$. :-] .

Luxor, 15 Aug 2017Very ambitious design. I like it. Good luck. All the best t... moreI don't consider this design ambitious at all.
The edge design looks like that of an old iPhone, the back is uninspiring and quite bland. The bottom grills are the same as every other phone now. Same with the flat front screens with rounded corners. There's nothing new or ambitious about it. I'm not fooled by the dramatic music.
Overall the proportions of the characteristics of the design seem wrong. I find it quite ugly tbh.
Need to try harder Huawei - a poorly configured collection of features isn't enough to stand out these days.

          photo: usually 3:2, 4:3 or 16:9, no 100000:1
video: lots of content has 16:9 ratio
thats why many ppl prefer 16:9 for full content view on the screen.

i personally like a little bit more close to square screen like 15:9 (my current phone) because it is comfortable to read things on web browser

Alien , 15 Aug 2017With Sony you get premium hardware and software. Admit that... moreNo one give a damn about 4k resolution in 5.5" screen. Sony phones have more hardware issues due to it's poor qc and poor quality of materials sony used. And sony's firmwares are full of bugs and camera is bad too. Only dumb and blind sony fans buy sony phones nowadays.

Beautiful thing, that is..no doubt, but imagine what will happen if Xiaomi or Oneplus decide to release a 1000$ phone? It will surely be a Concorde moment in IT industry/history..So,overpricing your products is obviously no longer american/korean/japanese thing..
I'm using Mi6 for two months now,it's also thing of beauty and it works like a dream, and for 446$!??wtf..for a little bit more but still under 500$ you can have Oneplus 5,also fantastic phone,if a bit dull looking.
So,why pay (at least) double for Mate 10,Note 8,IPhone 8..common,really..

So basically 2017 would be remembered as a year when phones reach the 1000$ price tag, while "usability, productivity" stayed the same as 5 years ago.
Its fine for me if someone wants to throw their money, but now there is no argument for that,as PC didnt actually die as predicted.
And the 1k workstation will last 5-8 years like no problem, while phones are throwaway afair.

While other phones with similar specs will cost that much it is suicide and missed opportunity for them to think they can charge that much

A 16:9 display alone is already quite square-ish if it is completely bezel less. In order to give smartphones the traditional(more familiar) longer look that we used to hold in our hand when they had bezel, manufacturer adopt the 18:9 for bezel less phone. If you dont believe me, take any 16:9 smartphone with complete bezel like Sony, Pixel or Iphone. Cut down the top and bottom bezel. What do you get? You get an almost square smartphone. Not a very good choice isnt it. Nobody want a smartphone that look too wide. If that too hard to imagine think of bezel less tv. Look at it vertically. Doesnt it look a tad too wide? Just like most tablet these day which are using 4:3 aspect ratio. It too square-ish for a phone. It remind me of the ugly LG Vu series square display. That is just my opinion in term of design though. Btw, what the advantage of 16:9 ratio anyway?

Alien , 15 Aug 2017With Sony you get premium hardware and software. Admit that... moreThat's actually true. I have a few if Sony phones and they refuse to die. I mean one of them is a mid Ranger from 2012 and oyster one is a flagship from 2013 and they are both flying. Though I need to change the battery on the former now. Huawei is just another Chinese iPhone knockoff and cannot be compared to Sony, Apple, Samsung, lg or htc.

Sounds like pretty damn tempting device. My current Mate 9 has been completely fantastic phone - good camera, great battery life with absurdly fast charging and while I would love to have a clean Android-UI without any optional skin, EMUI has been surprisingly good and incredibly fast. I've never heard this loud phone speakers too, so it's almost impossible to miss a notification or a phone call.

When ordering the Mate, I was prepared to send back the device if EMUI was too much for me. Planning to keep my Mate 9 for at least about 2 years more from now, next phone is more than likely going to be the newest Mate out then. Mate 10 looks great as far as the render goes.
