Anonymous, 16 Aug 2017iPhone sells because of brand name and value Sony doesn't ... moreNeither is Huawei a well-known brand from the past.
In fact, what was it during the 2000 era when Nokia and Sony, as well as Motorola, are the only mobile phone manufacturers?

That has changed because of one thing - ADVERTISEMENT.
Apple, for fairness, has done a major innovation on mobile devices. The very first iPhone is the reason why smartphones today are now touch screens rather than keypad-controlled ones.
That made them remarkable in the history, while Sony just remains silent, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they have mediocre products - they don't.

Anonymous, 16 Aug 2017Sony was doing well when it first became a standalone compa... more"Sony htc and now lg are going downhill"
And that is based from what? Sales statistics?

For that, I wanna have you explain how Sony phones are selling competitively here in the Philippines, with a price tag even lower than the S8, let alone S8+ (talking about the XZ Premium here). And for the lower price, it has a 4K HDR display and incredible 960fps Slow Motion to begin with, and it goes all the way down to audio features, performance of the device, its abilities like unlimited 4K video recording (until memory is full), etc.

And this is not to say that the S8 twins are bad in any way, it's just that your comprehension is way too false from the reality.

The X series of Sony smartphones have made them more powerful and competitive than ever. The XZ Premium caught up as much attention as the Z3 did during its time, if not any more. This XZ1 will surely bring it up once again at the top, competing against the best of the best.

Oh, let's not forget the other two, shall we?
The V30 is getting extremely promising according to leaks. It will have a P-OLED display as opposed to the Super AMOLED of Samsung, and this thing with 0.4" smaller screen will have larger battery. You know what it already means, don't you?
And it will be the very first smartphone with a camera lens aperture size of f1.6, just like how the G4 of 2015 was the very first smartphone with a camera lens aperture of f1.8 - the reason that motivated Samsung to increase theirs to f1.7 as well.
Oh, and whether it's your opinion or not, LG has the better overall software package, especially the very comprehensive camera app.
Think of this, if the G6 with SD821 can still compete with the S8 with SD835/E8895, then I don't feel like we would like what we'll see when the V30 with SD835 will compete against the Note 8 with SD835/E8895.

HTC, on the other hand, has also done major improvements to their products.
      Let's start with the cons:
      -lack of 3.5mm headphone jack
      -questionable bend resistance
-loss of the legendary true "BoomSound Dual Front-Facing Stereo Speakers"
With all those aside, HTC has finally brought what they need.
An excellent camera, a great display, a nice software, a lovely hardware, promising features, and so much more.

You know you should try these devices first before talking something that you're definitely not sure about.

As long as there is a big battery and the audio is strong, i'm in!

AnonD-519850, 16 Aug 2017i won't argue that sony are sturdy phones, quality is one o... moreSony may be losing quite a bit in movie department, but they still make way more contents than any of its competitors in the smartphone game, so they take that as an advantage to improve their smartphone and TV departments.
They are extremely strong in the camera section, as usual, but they're even more powerful in the gaming console, which explains why they have the best performance out of a smartphone cell today. Oh, and their major PlayStation gaming console also comes natively installed on Sony smartphones, which comes in very handy as you will be confident that any type of gaming console will work on Sony devices, knowing it is a mainstream gaming device as well.

For design, why fix it when it ain't broken? LG didn't revamp their design, they just used a different material - same material as previous Sony phones have had for years, 5 straight years to be exact. Now they also implemented Sony's long-existing IP certifications for smartphones, so with all that being said, I can critically say that Sony is a huge leader in smartphone world, popularity aside.

Huawei has just turned the Apple way. The P9 was greatly designed and it literally impressed me of how nice-looking it was in person. Now the 10th Huawei P device has come, and guess what, I was disappointed, mainly because of the design. They didn't do anything new, they just copied iPhone's shell with Samsung's front look.
One thing I surely like about them is the quality of their cameras, but as easy as we can say "dual camera," those phones don't deliver what exactly we expect from the hardware.
The P10 Plus has dual f1.8 lens, and I was eager to see how amazing the photos will look like out of it, especially in low light and portrait bokeh shots.
Ended up looking at the S8 and saying it has superior camera quality, and same goes for the G6.
And as far as I know, its OIS is only present on the RGB lens, which makes it pointless as the other lens won't be able to deliver as clear, no-blur shot as the RGB lens.
Back to the main topic, they're growing bigger because of advertising, not for exactly delivering the best-of-the-best products.

HTC, Idk what innovation do you consider on their latest flagship.
3D Sound Video Recording is great, but not exactly makes it an exemplary device, given even 2015 or 2014 phones already record videos with stereo sound quality.
If it's the camera, I'd say it's an improvement, not innovation - two words with different meanings. The phone that I consider as "innovative" in camera is the XZ Premium and XZs for bringing up a new trend for smartphones, namely anti-rolling shutter distortion, 960fps Slow Motion, Predictive Capture, and the main point of its innovation - 5x faster full sensor readout.

The only way to make them standout is to feel their doings. The S8 twins were nothing sort of exciting, but the XZ Premium was a hell of a beast in 2017, and the mainstream flagship XZ1 will drive it further ahead.

Any new sensors, functions, breakthrough technology? I know that camera and screen of premium one is great, but it seems they don't get how many sensors and functions they miss when compared to for ex. coming note8. I include gears as well. Its like super h8 end phone in smart devices world. I wonder if they even got something exciting about this phone, or about some devices to replace mobile phone as we know it. No leaks so far. Bit sad for such awesome company.

Anonymous, 16 Aug 2017iPhone sells because of brand name and value Sony doesn't ... morePeople are still very much interested in Sony. I don't like iPhone because of limited ios. Lg has its own set of issues but yet it's ok. Htc is fine but grossly overpriced. Samsung is fragile and unwieldy. Moreover it lags, suffers from dropped frames and is plagued with huge number of issues. The back is very ugly imo and FPS is useless( I don't buy into that stupid iris scanner and all).Lastly I don't buy Chinese cr@p. That leaves me with only Sony. I have no problems with design as it's better than 99% of other devices. Htc is equally functional and lg scores the highest on functionality with the g6. I just want an OIS+ steadyshot combo in a Sony flagship and a that's it. You don't want to buy a Sony, don't bother yourselves. They are suffering losses and we want to buy their phones. That implies that there are only two stockholders. You should just not bother yourself with Sony.
