But tbh everything evolves, sony must aswell. Sony lost to movie business a lot, TVs also and it's market share on smartphones isn't going any better. Sony is still strong on the camera market and console market (thank god).
I really think sony could do a revamp on its design, i guess they're jsut too afraid to do it. LG despite the failure of the LG G4 and LG G5 they came up big with the LG G6, it was a success. Same as huawei, constantly improving it's build quality and appealing they just grew to be a big company that is today.
The lack of improvement in HTC made it what it is today, But with the HTC 11 it changed a bit with innovation.
Sony should too to become what it was once before a great smartphone brand when Xperia was still around

So they still don't want to trim down that huge bezels. Sony doesn't seem to hear the opinion of their fans. I like sony phones but please sony, just trim down that huge bezels. Follow the trend except the curve screen.

The S8/S8+ and Note 8 have razor thin bezels, and so will be the upcoming iPhone 8 models.
Sony may have kept the same design, but one thing to give credit to them is how they remained the last manufacturer to make phones that look nothing like anything else in the market, no matter where you look at it.
50% bezels? Nah. They manage those bezels better. Others just don't have enough package to bring inside their bezels, hence why decide to go small bezel design.

Or the iphone 4 vs iphone 7. There has been a dramatic change on the build design. While Sony just keeps its rectangular shape with its 50% bezels

First let me state the negative part, looks like the bezel still not reduced, i mean reduced not completely bezelless
With that out of the way, it seem sony has fixed the caveat previous xz has, for starter, the NFC that been complained by a lot of people (reviewer included) because of it awkward location had been moved to the more common place(back) also, there's no more plastic go cover the antena, and the volume button, finally is higher
